I've gone to the Sprint store and checked out the HTC Evo and it looked cool but I think I am going to want a qwerty keyboard. I've checked out the Samsung Epic 4G which has one and I loved it but have heard on the forum that it is a bad match for mac and that Evo is really the way to go. So when the Evo Shift came out I was really excited - Evo plus qwerty! However I've read the reviews and I've checked it out in the store and wasn't impressed. Sliding it open is difficult - no cool snap like on the samsung, and multiple times I've experienced the volume rocker issue that is mentioned in many reviews. So my first choice is the Epic but I am concerned with what I've read about using it with macs. Can anyone give me their stories good and bad? This is my first ever smartphone and I don't want to make a huge mistake in choosing one. Thanks in advance.

I'm a Mac + Epic user, but not sure what specifically you're referring to. Unless you're planning to root the phone or use another rom there really isn't anything you'd do with your Mac + Epic except connect the Epic as a USB drive which isn't a problem. Even the non-root usb tethering apps work on the Mac. No problems here.
