IS Evo getting the latest Sense UI?

Yeeeah thats kind of bullsh*tty to put a game on there that no one asked for, at least make it able to be deleted. Though its not possible unless rooted. It could be a cool game idk, still seems kind of like cheap/cheat advertising.

I agree. My wifes phone is full of the crap and on mine I rooted it and used Root Explorer and cleaned all the sprint junk out that was on mine.

Why should the Evo 2 look like the Sensation? Have you not heard of the Evo 3D? I don't get why people are so against the 3D part of the new Evo... is has a switch to turn it off. Yes I know... "itz ah gimek!!!" But it also might be a neat little feat to use every once in a while as well whether you wanted it or not.

But back on topic, I believe the Sensation could be warranted as an upgrade to some, I'm actually fine w/ my Evo until I see pricing... THATS what I'm waiting for.

I just want Sense 3.0

I'm rooted now (MIUI), but I'd break root to give it a try and see if it satisfies my needs. The new notification bar and lockscreen are pretty sick.

You and me both lol

Idk I think the Evo 3D looks cool but I think ima just stick with my Evo until my two years are up by then they will have a Evo 4 wit retinal scanner and think to text features lmaoo

yea with all these new htc phones coming out I could see them not updating the evo with the new sense...even though I really hope they do...and as far as upgrading to any of these new phones...even with the dual core processors I don't feel like there is a big enough change to warrant spending $200+...for one battery tech hasn't improved at all since the evo came out so all these extra cores/features will only drain the battery faster...another thing with the apps that are out now I don't feel that we would see much improvement in speed other than maybe a slight increase when comparing the snapdragon 1.0ghz single core to the 1.2ghz dual...now that i have gotten over that must have the latest and greatest I feel that I will wait at least another year even though I already qualify for an upgrade before buying a new phone

the processors are not only faster, but also more efficient.. so that means they will actually consume less battery power than a phone with a 1ghz snapdragon such as the Evo

This. Also, the speed "update" is more of a major thing than a minor thing. There is twice as much RAM, so everything will load faster, and the 1.2 GHz processor is nearly 2.5 times faster than the 1 ghz processor (2 cores at 1.2 = 2.4ghz total) with a GPU that is 4 times better. It is true that the current OS does not take full advantage of the new dual-core chips, but when IceCream Sandwitch hits (2.4 I believe), it incoperates the dual-core features of the HoneyComb tablet OS, with some other features into GB (which will most likely be put on all dual-core phones). The 3D is quite a bit better than the OG, but the OG is by no means obsolete either.

So, aside from managing apps and power better, it will be a huge boost in speed for apps, particularly multimedia and games. If you're not a big gamer and don't use video and photos much, then you are correct, there really isn't much of an upgrade waiting.

On top of that, the 4gb of internal memory is awesome compared to the 1gb the OG has (which is really only like 250mb because of all the pre-loaded crap). Once again though, it all boils down to what you use if for and what your needs are. You may not need 4gb of space if your main use of the phone is just that; a phone.

the switch is for the camera for 3D vs 2D pics...

That is true...but the stock UI will not be in 3D, from my understanding. Aside from video and picture, only apps (with the developers decision) will take advantage of the 3D aspect of the device (such as games). With time there may be ROMs and what not that may take advantage of it as well.

Specs sound like the evo 3d just with no 3d.

I don't really get this thread.

Not quite...the Sensation (Pyramid) has less RAM (768mb vs 1gb) and less memory (1gb vs. 4gb) than the EVO 3D. It is also using the 8260 CPU vs. the 8660 the EVO has, though the only difference between the two seems to be the cell connection (same speed at 1.2 ghz and same Adreno 220 GPU).

I'm not knocking the EVO 3D, In fact I like the idea of it, and depending on the execution, I may actually upgrade from my EVO 4G to one. I was simply saying that if I didnt know any better, and had seen the 4G, the Sensation, and the 3D sitting next to each other, I would think the Sensation was the second gen phone before they came out with the 3D....

Anyway, I really really like some of the features shown on the Sensation, and would love to see them available on my current EVO. Though, I kind get the feeling we are not going to see many more updates to our beloved 4G's because of all the new HTC phones coming out, and most people will probably be upgrading soon anyway...

so basically what you're saying is, the evo 3d is 2 entire operating system updates away from seeing its full potential...which could be a year or more after launch? at which point it's entirely possible, even probable that newer, more effecient models will be available. that's a pretty tough sales pitch for sprint

We get 2.3, but that will probably be the last OS update because of the new phones, as you said.

The 4G pitch wasn't so bad was it?
And here we are... almost 1 year later with a completely relevant EVO 4G

Had to share this article about the new Sense UI. Even though I'm leaning more towards upgrading to the 3D when it's released, wanted to share this article. If the new Sense UI is on the EVO 4G when it gets updated to Gingerbread and the upgraded OS actually enhances the performance of my phone, I actually might hold off on the upgrade.

HTC Sense 3.0 Not Quietly Brilliant, It's F**king Perfect

I was just getting ready to post that. I can see it being a big lag. The Evo & anything made in that generation was based off a speed boost and not real power like 3D graphics and everything else these new dual cores are handling. I'm sure there will be a port & some dev will be the thanks to that but it'll probably be stripped to make it run smooth. Gingerbread itself will still come but the enhanced Sense is a no.

Unfortunate news for anyone who saw HTC's Sense 3.0 UI and started dreaming about seeing it on their Desire HD, Incredible S or any other handset that doesn't ship with it preloaded. HTC has said that because of the hardware requirements of the fancier new Android skin, only the dual-core Sensation 4G and EVO 3D smartphones and the 1.5GHz Flyer tablet will be benefiting from it for now. The company's expected to introduce more tablets in the summer and its inevitable march forward with smartphones will continue, but Sense 3.0 -- and those delectable multifunctional lock screens -- will remain the exclusive privilege of its highest-end devices.

Update: Those older devices may be missing the boat, but they will at least get a set of floaties. HTC left a message on Twitter that the company is "working to incorporate other aspects" of Sense 3.0 that will come to older devices. Hopefully this includes that flash new weather app.

HTC Sense 3.0 will only support Sensation, EVO 3D, Flyer and newer devices; older hardware left behind -- Engadget
