Also, if they are charging $10-15 for the 2.2 upgrade AND it is coming on it's own micro-sd card, maybe they are not charging for the upgrade but for the card? Expensive card, but all the same...

which is still stupid when you think about lol, why not just push it out or put it up for dl??

At this point in time, all I can go by is rumor. I'm not saying that it will or will not not be sold on sd or available for dl. I'm just making a comment.

I take it no one has gone into a metro store to see if the OS is actually available or not. I talked to someone from a Cricket corp store and he said that it's supposed to be OTA not in store. Hope it comes soon though.

But my wife is thinking of buying a ascend n if she does I'll tell her to get the tapout se n I'll rip the rom of it n clean it up lol.

tho she may buy me a better fone n use mine lol

Went to corp store in staten island, NY and they said the update is coming soon, i'll check again next week. Also, she said that the update should be available through huawei's website also. I sent them an email and am awaiting a response. I'll keep you posted and let you know what happens when I go back to the corp store.

i dont understand why if huawei ascend TapouT phone which is a regular huawei ascend has 2.2 why cant we have that rom which is an official android 2.2 for huawei ascend??? cant we do a backup of that rom and put it on the same huawei ascend that everybody has?

But alot of peoples have to realize that metro has no control over OS or Updates, that is Huawei...but they trying to be smart about it, since the tapout cost more cause it have 2.2 and regular ascend have 2.1, now if they gave the update the same day or before the tapout ascend cameout, they would never sell none cause peoples can still buy the regular ascend for $179 + $50 instant rebate and $30 mail in rebate in total $100, and upgraded it to 2.2...

I gave up waiting and got myself the tap out
dont really like the case ,
and all the app I spend are gone =(,
i was just wondering , can i root this phone
like i did with the older ascend ?
cuz there are soo much junks/metro apps
on this phone i dont need
so far its faster , and alot smoother
less force close that's for sure LoL

If you use the same gmail account on your new phone you can still get your apps back from the market without paying again. If you don't like the tapout case, you could probably put the back from your old phone on there. Thats cool that it runs smoother, just don't use nail clippers to open the top cover this time lol.

It can be rooted, its just trickier. Can you make a backup of the 2.2 and upload it for people to tinker with?

case i did that , i use my old one and gave the tap out to my grandma

top cover i took that out alrdy

but ppl are asking me to take the rom out
how do i do that ?
im scare to try anything with this phone
since no post are made
and all the junk app on this phone is unbelieveable LOL
so i can have the same app on both of my phone ?

other ask me also
i only had this one for 2 days
and had the other ascend for alil over 2 months
so both are noob phone included me

i dont even know what rom is
my old phone all i did was z4 root

If you changed the number on your old phone for your grandma, did you start another gmail account for her to set the phone up? Your apps should go along with your gmail. If you still have the same gmail you had on your old phone, try going to the market and go to"my apps" and see if you can get them back. As far as the ROM thing, don't do anything you are not comfortable doing with your new phone. Don't let anyone pressure you into anything.

They told me a month ago they were working on it and didn't know IF or WHEN it would drop. Which is the lesser of two evils...Metro customer support or Huawei..haha. Patiently waiting on a dump from the tapout version.

The Acsend Tapout is not out untill friday... It was recalled due to major problems and is being updated to 2.3 due to the fact that the acsend cannot support 2.2..
