Verizon bent over backwards for me

Back story: I was up for a new phone on 4/24 and I was going to get the TB on a one year contract. Verizon nixes the 1 year contract effective 4/17. I call customer service to see if they can upgrade me before 4/17 since it's only one week before I was due. They try and try and find out they can get me any phone early except for the TB and iPhone (didn't care about the iPhone). I sigh and ponder if I would be leaving Big Red for T-mobile so I can keep a shorter contract. (I'm a phone nerd, I like the latest toys)

Today: I get a call from the manager (Marques Alexander) from my local Verizon corporate store (Houston, TX - Main St. location). He informs me, despite the restrictions Verizon has made on upgrading early, he said he could make it happen. I go into the store and he not only gets me the TB on a one year contract, he also gets me the phone for only $220 ($30 less than the 2 year price)!! He also showed me a newer/better family plan (only available in Texas) that saves my family $50 a month compared to what we were spending!

Lesson: Experiences like this are stories that need to be passed on. Big Red did a good thing today and I'm here to spread the word.

Now I have my TB and I'll be having fun for the next few weeks learning everything I can about it (coming from the Droid X). :D:D:D

I've been with Verizon for 11+ years and they have NOT bent over backwards for me. In fact, they charged me $15,000 for data roaming when I was in Spain when I specifically told them I want unlimited data and not pay per MB. Guess what, the ******ed rep didn't get it right. I threatened to have my legal department file a suit, and that's what finally got them to realize what's going on. What is funny is after that happened, a week later Verizon no longer offered unlimited international data. Coincidence?

I get irritated with verizon... I'm 15 and I can understand they need to talk to an adult when doing account stuff like adding and removing features. But when I call with a support question or just questions in general they can be very rude to me as if Im just a stupid kid.

In my family when it comes to phones and queatiobs its me who you go to. My dad just pays the bill. Lol.

The best part is when I fill out there survey and tell them this they call me. Then once again they want to talk to an adult regarding the issue. I tell them its my phone so they can talk to me.

Iv talked to one person at Verizon who was nice and thought it was actually cool that I was 15. He suggested that I get a job with Verizon one day lol.

VZW tends to "bend over backwards" for my account as well. It helps being a long-time customer of theirs with multiple services as well.

I've had phone replacements outside of warranty, plan changes they called me about; they noted I went over txt msgs by A LOT, and called me to let me know and give me a chance to up my plan; and a few other issues.

I've always had great service from them. It's why, irrespective of cheaper plans being out there, I tend to stay with VZW.

I had a good experience with Verizon's tech department today. I wasn't able to activate a phone I had bought off ebay for my mom. So the tech got me a six month early upgrade and a discounted phone. This wasn't a high end smartphone. Just a simple dumbphone for my mom but he was very helpful and it was exactly what I needed.

I have been with Verizon for close to 10 years now, and in all that time, I cannot honestly remember one time when I have had an unpleasant experience with either customer support or an in store visit. Managers have worked with me to upgrade early, find the best plans for me without trying to upsell any services, and do whatever is in their power to see to it that I was satisfied with my phone and/or my plan. As for reliability, after riding out Hurricane Katrina on the lower Mississippi River, my phone was the only one on the boat that still had service. All of my deck crew had AT&T, and did not even start to get service until 3 or 4 days after the storm had passed. So for that fact, and the other reasons stated above, Verizon will be the only cell phone service provider for me.

Ok, what plan?

(I live just south of Austin)

BTW, my wife and I have been with Verizon for at least 11 years. Neither of us have ever had any issues that weren't resolved immediately, and to our satisfaction. :D

Here's a pic of the plan. I was wrong. It's for OK, AR, LA, MS and select markets in TX, TN and FL.

Ahhhh.. We're on that one already. :D

Thanks!

Well if you read my other posts I had to go through 5 thunderbolts before getting one that didnt have some type of major issue. Phone support at corporate is great but the techs as the stores are morons, enoough said they do anything possible not to help you out.

Normally I would say this is just and isolated case possibly my location but I moved and the same crap happened forcing me to AT&T.... problem is I work on NYC now and AT&T has basically terrible service.

Thus I paid my termination fee and ported back to verizon, but there customer service is far from the best. Cell call quality and and service is superior however.
