I was just able to uninstall this bloatware very easily.

It comes with an automatic free trial which I never wanted in the first place. Messing around with it I found a way to stop it and remove the damn thing.

1. Open CityID
2. Click on "Subscription Status" then "Stop Free Trial"
3. Click Confirm
4. Click Remove Software
5. Click Confirm
6. Less Bloat on your phone

Now, I did this very quickly and didn't really pay 100% attention so the instructions may be a bit off but thats pretty much what I did.

Give it a try and report back

Step 2 is click on "Subscription Status" then "Stop Free Trial"....

Thank you for the tip!! Successfully uninstalled.

BTW, my free subscription was 14 days from expiring and then its $1.99 per month to continue the service. No thanks!

It displays the city and state of the caller. Useless.

It's one of the few stock apps I allow to remain, as I find it useful.

I was wondering, by the way, if you've noticed if it returns to the app drawer after a reboot, because unrooted you can't go into /system/app and remove both the apk and the associated files and the services involved with the app.

Usefull but $1.99 per month after free trial runs out.

And no, it did not return to the app drawer after reboot.

Anyone who might be interested in replacement dialers, there's a built in free CityID in Rocketdial. Rocketdial is not free. I bought it once the HTC dialer flaked out by no longer showing matching contacts when I T9 search them unless I hit a digit, backspace, then do the search. Rocketdial has T9 search and about 100 configurable settings, and it's skinnable. I've had no problems with it in the week that I've used it.

I actualyl likled this app a lot because I usually google an unrecognized number's area code if i'm next to a computer before picking up the phone. But for $24/year, I think I"m good. Woulda been down to pay 2 bucks permanentely but oh well. Great tip on removing bloatware!

fwiw i have been telling it every couple weeks for a year to 'continue free trial' seems it lets you use the free trial for a while (perhaps it is not the full version... not that i would use it anyway)

Anyone can confirm that this does indeed work?

if it wont allow you to continue, go to settings and apps...find the city id app and delete local content in the app, dont delete the app itself...then you can go restart the trial again, unlimited number of times..never expires
