Root 2.3.3 Gingerbread Issues Thread

HELP!!!

Been rocking gingerbread for a while and I guess I don't call many people that arn't in my contacts because I just realized today that I cannot access the dialer. When it starts it immediately closes. I have checked and I have no frozen apps and I am running 240 lcd density.

Please help. What am I missing?

Did you do a factory wipe adn see if that helps? I know when I restored Launcher pro the shortcuts didn't work anymore on the dock, had to redo them.

Hey has anyone developed camera issues with the stock camera app on the pre rooted GB leak?

Within the last week when i take a pic in landscape mode like i normally do. Everything works fine. Until i select the thumbnail to pull the pic back up, when the pic comes up it is sideways and i have to rotate it. It does it about 75% of the time now and has gotten more frequent. I haven't changed the way i take pics in any way. thanks in advance

Hey guys. A couple users have said it already, but let me reiterate: please don't start bickering on the forums, we're all friends here. Of course disagreements are bound to happen, but let's try not to "hijack" a thread just for that. I deleted a lot of posts that were "useless". ;)

You can discuss via private messages (I said "discuss", insults aren't tolerated in private messages either).

Sorry for posting without any information, but I didn't have much choice.

this is not an "issue" but rather an improvement ive noticed over Froyo...

when i was on Froyo...if I had to reboot your phone for whatever reason...my battery stats would reset themselves...

for instance...say i went to battery usage...and it said "14 hours since unplugged." if i rebooted the phone it would be back to nothing...

but NOW....with GB...it remembers where it was when your phone turned off...and picks back up again when it reboots....i like!

i had the first leaked and rooted gingerbread and my led notifications quit working, when i missed a call no led, when i got a text no led, email no led....went back to froyo to get the new leak and just did a test and had my wife send me a text and led works....went to new leaked rooted gingerbread and led notifications don't work again, i can download light flow from the market and they work with it, but i'd rather not have to do that when they are suppose to work fine without it...thanks everyone

So is this the "official" build? When, and IF it's actually released OTA will I be able to download that, or will it think I already have it and not allow the OTA download?

Anyway, I'm annoyed that if I go to Google and click a businesses phone number, it no longer pulls up that number in my dialer. It pulls up the dialer with the last number I called. That should be a basic smart phone feature.

Another thing that annoys me is the fact that the browser doesn't auto space when searching for something using the the input bar that's part of the browser.

I had to get rid of Tango also, not a big deal since I don't really use it. I heard that Tikl and other apps similar to those two would cause the OS to run VERY slow, and sure enough they did. Deleted and it seems to run fairly smooth now. With the issues I mentioned above, I'm not really sure that this is the "official" VZW build as previously thought.

BTW, I wasn't rooted before. I installed this as what I read was suppose to be a future OTA release. It was simply putting the file on my root and renaming it "update.zip" of that helps.

- it is absolutely 110% official in the sense that it was built by Verizon...

- it was pretty quickly decided that this was mistakenly sent out...

- When VZW pushes an OTA out it WILL fail on your phone even if this is the EXACT same build that gets pushed out...the update will be looking for froyo to update and won't find it, so it will fail...

- if i click a number in Google, my dialer brings it up...so you might have some sort of glitch there

I just did the rooted Gingerbread thing today, I like it, but I still like the themability and extra space for icons the third-party launchers give you with extra rows/columns.

However...both LauncherPro and GOlauncher are much more sluggish to load. One of the best things about GoLauncher is those little folders, that even show the icons in them, but they take FOREVER to load on Gingerbread. I used to be able to get straight to my launchers after unlocking, now it's taking 2-3 seconds, and the icons still aren't loaded. It's like that data isn't being cached the way it was on Froyo. This is rather irksome.

If they'd just let us have more rows/columns, I'd be a happy camper, apart from the still lame dock, it's smoother and the previews work well enough.

So, like, I made a Nandroid backup before I installed GB, can I just restore that or do I really have to SBF and re-activate?

I no longer see an option to link contacts, which I'm a bit sad about. That was a nice feature.

If it's not something you ever used/ran into... if you had, say "Mom" in your google-synced contacts and her real name in Facebook, you could link the two accounts phone-side, and it would share all the information. Overall, the contacts presentation is MUCH improved, but it still stings to be missing that particular feature.

EDIT:Schooled by bigshotproducer. You just have to open options after opening the options to edit, now... which for some reason never occurred to me. Thanks mate!

I'm on the ota/leak and I've got some major issues. Very surprised that I didn't didn't see any in this thread.

1) Camera doesn't remember resolution setting and keeps reverting back to
WS format.

2) when sideloading apps sometimes the install button won't work. The cancel button works though.
If I reboot the install button works again.

3) wifi stops working occasionally. It still shows connected, but I can't do anything. Toggling wifi pig and back on restored the connection.

No one else here with these? I'd consider all to be major bugs.

i had an issue with my contacts...it was something to do with Yahoo that i froze...you might want to check Titanium again and see what you have frozen just to be sure...

click "backup/restore" >>> menu >>>Filters >>> Filter by temperature >>>frozen

next question would be did you use titanium to REMOVE any programs??

Dude. Thank you! I was getting frustrated with this as I thought it had something to do with my theming. I was just getting ready to sbf. Thanks again!

Once you are editing contacts...then you can check options and join will be there. Extra step in GB. :(
