I haven't found a good, all-in-one podcast/music player.

DoubleTwist recognizes podcasts, but I've grown to loath DoubleTwist. You have to connect to the computer to sync, it has no podcast downloading capabilities so you can't grab them on the fly - gotta connect to the computer, sync podcasts, then push them to the device, it has no markers to mark what podcasts have been listened to, which are in progress, etc.

I'm back to using the stock music player, and then Doggcatcher for my podcasts. It'd be nice if there were an app that had Doggcatcher's excellent podcast downloading/bookmarking/markers on read/in-process/unread, with normal music player functionality. It would stop confusing my Bluetooth play/pause commands, too.

If you find an all-in-one player, post it up.

i have it. it is actually a very nice looking player. i LOVE the gesture based navigation simply b/c i hate the clutter some of the music player have.

however, it has very few options, no widget, no EQ, cant search by genre, cant make or listen to playlists. just search by artist, songs, it does have podcast support but i haven't used that yet and a shuffle all button which i am a fan of.

one of my fav functions is the ability to jump to an artist quickly. it is the same system the zune HD uses if you have used/seen one of those.

all in all, it is a very pretty, but basic music player. i am looking forward to some updates.

Tried simplePlay. Fail. Oh well.

No provision for downloading podcasts, no organization to the podcasts (i.e. all of my episodes of all of my podcasts are in one big list vs. being sorted into each podcast, then viewing episodes), no indicators for podcast being in-process, complete, or not listened to.

Also there appeared to not have a tracking bar to jump around the podcast, but that may just have been the simplistic interface - I didn't play with it much before uninstalling. The downloading I could live with, but no organization and no indicator markers is a deal breaker. That's just a fundamental part of a good podcast player.

Actually, come to think of it, I didn't even use it long enough to see if the bookmarking of podcasts worked well :D

I sat down two nights ago and downloaded about a dozen music players.

There isn't a damn one of them that actually handles podcasts worth a shit.

I don't really like coding, but I've got half a mind to sit down and create my own. How can there possibly be nobody who thinks it'd be valuable to have a music app that handles both music and podcasts in some kind of comprehensive manner?

OH, can I be a beta tester!!! Yeah, I'm really surprised at that as well. I would of thought that a Music/Podcast app that worked well would selling/be downloaded like wildfire

Huh. What advantages do see to having to launch a separate app to listen to podcasts?

If the ability to keep music and podcast seperate is available then. It could be a All-In-One app audio app.

Keeping a seperate app for both seems redundent imo. Why have two apps instead of one that does both music and podcast really well

I went through about a dozen music player apps as well before I tried Power Amp Pro. I was hesitant because of the $4.99, thought it was a little steep, but I absolutely love it. When using the X during running or working out, there is a player control on the lock screen, very convienent. Just my opinion, but there is a trial version of Power Amp. Hope you find what you are looking for.
