Delay after pressing lock button after upgrade to 2.2

I finally upgraded to 2.2 and just about everything is working well.

My one problem is that there is an annoying delay between when I press the lock button and when the "Swipe to unlock" screen appears. It takes a little more than a second to appear. I can press the button again and there is no delay in the screen turning off.

I didn't have this problem running 2.1. I could press the lock button and the screen would turn on immediately for me to either unlock or just check the time.

Is there a way to fix this?

Are you using a live wallpaper or anything that uses animations on your home screen?

No, just a stock static wallpaper (blue gradient with circles/bubbles). I have Beautiful Widgets showing clock and weather on my home screen, but it's not animated weather.

Thanks for your reply. The delay is annoying me to no end. I timed it to around 1.2 seconds (used timer at work).

Not a problem...any applications running using a large amount of resources?

Not really. I don't do anything very intensive with my phone. And I didn't install anything after the upgrade to 2.2.

Actually, the upgrade to 2.2 knocked out all my home screens. I had to add everything back. But before I added anything at all, I was already noticing the delay.

In 2.1, the four capacitive buttons would light up along with the screen. In 2.2, the capacitive buttons don't light up at all when I press the unlock button. Are they supposed to?

The face buttons do not light up in 2.2 until it has been unlocked. Stupid option, but tried a battery pull? There could be something causing the lag.

Did the battery pull and thought the problem had been fixed. But still the same.

Apparently if I turn the screen off and try turning it back on right afterwards, there is no delay. If I wait a few seconds before I try turning the screen back on, then the delay is there.

So frustrating!

I'm sorry, but the only thing I can assume that would be causing this is some sort of app slowing the phone down. Some people report slow performance for a little while following the update, but nothing more than a couple hours. I personally do not have the issue. I do have my captivate rooted running 2.2 and have removed all bloatware and unused apps. I apologize, but I'm not sure where else we could go with this.

Best of luck. Let us know if you find a fix!

Thanks, I appreciate your help! I might just have to deal with it...

I haven't done the clean wipe of the phone after the upgrade because the thought of having to back everything up jabs my lazy bone, but maybe eventually I'll do it and it'll fix the problem.

you could try booting into recovery and clearing the cache, im not all too sure it would help but it may. and im not real sure but i think stock recovery lets you clear cache so you wont need to be rooted or any of that

I've had a delay in waking up my phone since I first bought it in August. It is quite annoying. Through all the different ROMs I've flashed and caches I've cleared and master resets I've performed...nothing has ever changed the speed at which it wakes up. Sadly. If you do find something that fixes this for you I'd love to hear about it...I just kind of assumed that it was just a quirk of my phone...but hearing that you acquired this problem puts my assumption in doubt.
