Hi

I have shortlisted two android devices
Samsung Galaxy S and HTC incredible S

I am not able to decide which one to buy. Samsung device is having 16 GB internal memory and one microsd slot while HTC is having 1.1 GB memory plus one micro sd slot.

If I install lots of apps then 1.1 memory is sufficient since almost all apps keep some data in main memory also.

I was having nexus one and memory was main issue for me. Most of the times I need to copy my apps to sd card.

I want to avoid this . But at the same time incredible is having camera LED plus 8.0 mp camera.

I know LED will make a difference but will there be any difference in 8.0 camera of incredible and 5.0 camera of galaxy S.

Also please tell me that using microsd in incredible will be slow?

These two are the best models available in India right now.
Please advice..

I have the HTC Incredible S. I would suggest that you go for the HTC for the following reasons. The HTC has:

* more RAM than the Samsung.
* Higher resolution (high-definition) camera & camcorder.
* A front camera. The Samsung has no front camera.
* A flash (dual flash). The Samsung has no flash whatsoever.
* HTC Sense interface which compliments the Android platform perfectly instead of working against it and hogging resources
* more software revisions during the year which include enhancements to the overall user experience.

What makes you think that the microSD would be slow??????

Hope that helps.

I have few more doubts:
1) Can we root HTC incredible and install cynanogen images?
2) I dont think 32 GB memory card is available in India, and if its there its very expensive.
So 16GB micro sd card would be sufficient?

No idea about rooting. That kind of pimping doesn't interest me. You may get replies from other users about this elsewhere in this forum.

"So 16GB micro sd card would be sufficient?" - sufficient for what? What are you trying to achieve?

Well I was also confused between samsung galaxy s, incredible s and also sony ericson experia arc. I did a lot of research and for the exact above reasons, decided to go ahead with incredible s. But there is a flip side too..

1. The camera shots aren't great for 8 MP camera and if you compare that with 5 MP on iPhone 4. Especially the video which is muddy at times.

2. Front facing camera is of no use at the moment: I could find any application on the market which I can use to make a video call using FFC. Fring doesnt detect the FFC and Tango is limited to only Android and iOS

3. Audio: The speaker located on the backside just isn't upto the mark for a high end phone. The audio quality with the earphones is average.

But despite the above negatives, I would still go with HTC because of the sense experience!! And would hope that with the Gingerbread update these issues would be negated to an extent.

Cheers!

I agree the camera shots could be slightly better, but overall the photos are good. I think Nokia and Sony Ericsson have the edge here because of the optics made by Carl Zeiss and Cyber Shot respectively.

Audio: Never been bothered about this on any phone I've owned because it's a phone and not a Hi-Fi system. I do have a NAD and SONOS system but the damn things won't make any telephone calls! :) As long as the music through the earphones are good then I'm happy.

One thing I do find annoying is the volume through the ear-piece during telephone calls: it's too loud!

Hi

Thanks all for your replies.
Well I got a chance to get hands on with Samsung Galaxy S. I was really impressed with the Screen. I was having nexus one and that was horrible in sunlight. Galaxy S screen is damn good.

I was preferring HTC over GAlaxy because of its camera, flash and GPS.

But if you guys saying camera shots of HTC are not above par than I can rethink about the options.

Also how much flash is utilized while ckicking photos. Do you guys user flash and how good is it.How are the night pics??

I also heard Galaxy GPS have some issues. Is this real. I cannt think samsung can do this . Its the best android sold phone till now.Can anyone give some more insight about GPS of galaxy s.

Also how about GPS of HTC and HTC screen? Is it worth than Galaxy S.

I am tilting more towards Galaxy S.Let me know more from you guys if you have any problems faced with incredible or galaxy.

Samsung Galaxy S DOES have a front facing camera, but is only 0.3MP, whilst the HTC Incredible S 1.3MP.

hmm.......well i was also confused between the Galaxy S and the Incredible S for a long time......i finally bought the Incredible S........the major differences between the two are......no flash on the Galaxy S, though the camera on the Incredible S is not quite impressive........Galaxy S has a better battery life as it has a 1500 mAh battery compared to the 1450 mAh on the Incredible S, the Super Amoled on the Galaxy S is also a battery saver.......both phone have a 4 inch screen with a resolution of 480 X 800 with a pixel density of 233 ppi, do note that colour reproduction on the galaxy S is better and super amoled is superior to the super lcd........Sense UI on the Incredible S is simply fantastic whereas TouchWiz UI on the Galaxy S is not so impressive.......ONE BIG THING, the GPU on the Galaxy S (PowerVR SGX540) is a hell lot better that the Adreno 205 GPU on the Incredible S......the SGX540 is the best mobile GPU on the planet.......coupled with samsung's own Hummingbird CPU, the galaxy s beats the incredible s in terms of performance.......build quality of the Incredible s is better than that of the galaxy s.....also the touchwiz ui on samsung slows down the device.......i bought the incredible s because I'm simply in love with the sense ui..........the choice is yours.......galaxy s cost around 24k whereas the incredible s costs around 27k..........

one more thing........don't confuse the Galaxy S(I9000) with the Galaxy SL(I9003).......the Galaxy SL is a piece of shit......don't take it even if it is being offered for free!!

Can you elaborate?

It is no secret that HTC Incredible is running on a single core processor, it has a SLCD screen (compared to super amoled in other handsets). Sound quality is not up to the mark... (I read somewhere that this has been an eternal issue with HTC, so I am disappointed that they havent done something about it...) Camera shots are average.

Welcome to the HTC Inc S club..

I see that the rating for the IS has increased from 3 to 3.5!! The club is growing and also has loyal followers now. Haha.

Why is the thunderbolt so popular as compared to IS? Is it any better in terms of specs? Looks like another variant of DHD. Just curious..
