Help Upgrade Epad Android 2.1 to 2.2?

i know this has been asked before but i am a real newbee and cant follow how to do it. so my apologies . also apologies for posting here but i wanted it to be where zt108 owners were.

i have the above. its ok for what it does but the battery is making in a totally non portable epad. i do not use it as a phone. but i am only getting between 27 and 54 minutes from a fully charged battery. when i check where it went to it says 87% went on cell standby.i have turned off all the connections related to cell phones eg, 2g & 3g. i have downloaded a startup manager, turned off everything running and tried to stop the dailer from turning on, to no avail. i have tried turning dailer off via running processes, wont turn off. cant find anything else related to a phone anywhere.other forums have said to rename the phone file but i cant even find the phone file. some people on forums have reflashed and sorted it but i am to scared to do that without very clear plain english instructions.

where does this cell standby originate. and how can i turn it off or uninstall it. it will never be used as a phone.

In order to use rootexplorer you need to root using UniversalAndroot and select the "do not install super user" option.

I renamed telephony.apk and Phone.apk which got rid of the cell stand by in battery usage. I had to reload Utube with the latest version after doing this but had no other issues. I am using a V2 (512mb 4GB) zt-180 10" tablet.

Two reasons for short battery life are defective batteries and having the screen brightness set way too high. I set mine to about 25% and it is fine. I get about 3 hours on a full charge with wifi enabled, a bit longer if I turn that off.
