If ur not rooted ur gna get the update cuz there is nuthn to stop it cuz ur using stock firmware

Not 100% true... I remember with my Eris I flashed the leaked RUU prior to the official OTA. When the OTA finally was released, I - and countless others - never received it because my software version did not match the official stock version. The OTA checks for your current software version before sending you the update.

So, if you flash this RUU, or any others that will be leaked before the OTA is released, just know that you will not get the official OTA when it finally is released.

After finding this out, I had to wait until the devs were able to root the leaked RUU's and finally was able to root my Eris and never looked back.

Haha, I was right there with you on the Eris. Couldn't wait I guess. Not that it mattered much though. The "Leak V1 through 3" worked fine, and I eventually rooted. Think I'll wait for the OTA. Still haven't rooted this thing yet. I haven't really seen a reason to yet personally. It was a neccessity on the Eris, but this phone is fast and responsive as is. Maybe someone can convince me!

Does the official OTA wipe your phone? If not, I won't be installing this.

From what I remember with the Eris, the official OTA does not wipe your phone... however, it was still recommended that you did a factory reset after receiving it because of some issues that may have been caused by the OTA... I don't know what they were because I never received the OTA.

Same here, not rooting and I'll be waiting for the OTA. I may root one day down the line... but there isn't a need for it right now.
