Very good read, thanks.
As cool as that story is, it makes my blood boil when I read stuff like...
From the article... said:
"The iPhone’s electronics and software were inaccessible, so they’d market the phone’s hackability..."
The article discribes how the OG Droid turned around both of these companies, and now both of these companies have turned on the very concepts that THEY hooked us in with. It makes no sense at all.
"Hey everyone, buy our Droid instead of the iPhone because it's cool and hackable unlike that square iPhone". Then they make every Droid after it unhackable... WTF???
It's just so stupid it makes me want to watch Motorola go down in flames for being so dumb. There is so much about Motorola devices that I really like, but this one thing makes me get down on my knees and pray that they crash and burn and have to watch the OEMs who are giving us what we want (the hackable devices that
THEY made so popular), pass them up and leave them in the dust.
Then I want to watch them launch a huge campaign exclaiming, "hey everyone, come back please, come back... we're going to unlock our bootloaders again". But by then I want everyone elses devices to be so good that we all look back at them and say, "sorry, it's too late now. You had us back in the day, but you ****ed it all up. We've all moved on to greener pastures... sorry bout it".
I know that's not going to happen, but damn it just irritates me sooo much knowing that hooked us like a drug dealer hooks some poor unsuspecting sap... then they cut us off cold just to watch us squirm while we go through withdrawls.
Those bastards.
