Any (Physical) Problems With Your Evos?

The post i quoted from you... has nothing about droid.
Just talk to me about your post and my comment.

Well I give up then. This is yet another android forum thread that is just too much work. Especially when people don't even read what they quote..

... lol

Samsung the top selling Android phone brand in America

oh what's that? The captivate and droid have sold as many or more phones than the EVO? And their forums just aren't as big because they don't have thousands of threads about light leakge?

If the EVO has so many problems then why is there like 236,700 posts in the forum about the phone? Got to the Motorola or Samsung forums and they don't look anything like the EVO's. Tells you the EVO has great build quality just by how many people are curious and read up on the phone. People don't buy crappy cars like they don't buy crappy phones.

Apparently all of those posts are in the form of complaint? I think that's what is being implied anyway.

i dont have insurance, I have had it since June.
AFAIK this is a known hardware issue and it should be covered under HTC's manufacturer's warranty. Sprint may need to send it out for the fix, but it's better than a dead phone IMO. I have also hear of Sprint charging a nominal fee ($15 or so) to repair known issues on site instead of shipping it to HTC, so you may get the phone repaired for a couple bucks. Either way, I feel it is certainly worth a shot.

Don't think companies put a lot of love into the white version of cell phones for some reason or they are just using cheap paint.

I still think the charging port issue is due to the user using cheap cables, attempting to unknowingly put the plug in backwards, or yanking the cable from the port (tripping over it).

Anyway, my girlfriend purchased a pretty expensive USB cable for me and I had to get an adapter for it in order to use it with my EVO. Had to purchase an adapter for about 5 bucks from Radioshack. That cable is a beast and I haven't had any issues after sleeping on top of the cable or stepping on the cable multiple times. Didn't know this but some cheap cables (ebay) cannot do data/charge the phone at the same time. I assume the more expensive cables are extremely flexible, can take abuse, and charge the phone as well as do data at the same time.

I did go to the store, but they told me it wasn't covered, How long is the warranty? Maybe I should try another store? They were telling me basically if I do not have insurance I was screwed, the phone shows no signs of physical or drop damage.

I have the issue with my black phone and only use the HTC cables (I sm lucky enough that my girlfriend is assistant manager at the local Best Buy so she gets things at cost... cables are marked up so ridiculously much to the consumer that it's depressing - a $25 charger set ends up costing her ~$5). I am sure that I don't insert it 100% perpendicular each time such that no part of the male end of the cable ends up touching any of the painted plastic, but I still see this as a design flaw myself. Simply using solid colored plastic rather than painting it would have done well IMO.

Did you actually take it to an official Sprint store (not just a Sprint certified retailer)? I am only going with what I heave read here, but they shouldn't decline this repair. Try giving HTC a call. I KNOW that this it a known issue on early model phones. HTC may have you send it in. If I had to guess, they would probably send you a pre-paid box to your home that you can put it in and ship it free (this is what other such companies have done with me for hardware in the past, although I've never dealt with HTC).

It's entirely possible that whoever you talked to was misinformed. I had a terrible experience getting a kiplsche subwoofer warrantied through Best Buy. Long story short, klipsche told me to take it into Best Buy and they would swap it out for me. best Buy refused since I purchased it over a year prior. I had to call corporate and someone from corporate called the store and ordered them to go ahead with the replacement for me. Interestingly, this is Best Buy's official policy reguarding klipsche products that are too hefty to ship. So... moral of the story, employees, their supervisors, and even their managers can be wrong.

The only Physical problem I have with my Evo is the powerbutton on the top is sinking in. I just signed up with sprint a week and half ago. First started off with a white one and right off the bat there was light leakage right below the captive buttons like they didn't fully paint it. It also started to have the power button sinking so i returned it for a Black one this past thursday and now im having the same problem with the button. So I had to remap the volume up button as my power button and the search button is my volume up button and now my power up button is my search button(which i never used the search button feature anyway)

Its hard for me to believe the power button issue is HTC fault. If you have two defective devices back to back then there is something wrong with the user and how they are treating the device. My EVO is from launch day and I had the Seidio Innocase II, now I'm sporting the Seidio Innocase Active. The power button is covered now and it took a little while getting used to have it covered but I haven't noticed any sinking on the button.

Maybe you need to start using the app screen lock so you do not have to use the power button and don't drop your phones.

1.i've never dropped either of my phone i'm very careful with it thank you very much..

2.I don't use the power button to lock the phone most the time, because I have the screen off setup for 15 seconds. But it's still going down lower and lower slowly.

3.i'm not the only one having problems with sinking power button. There are links on here, xda and other sites.

I really do love my evo so i'm doing everything I can to take care of it. I never had this problem with my HTC HD2
