Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

You may be able to pre-order (at least, I do remember some people pre-ordering the original EVO, that were coming over from another provider).

I could be completely wrong though, but I'm just going based on memory.
I ported my number from AT&T for the Evo and had pre-ordered it from Radioshack and it wasn't any problem.

Same for me. I pre-ordered my EVO from Radioshack, and ported my number from ATT. It was easy. Took a long time to activate the EVO, since I guess their servers were slammed that day, but it all worked out fine. Love my EVO! Looking forward to pre-ordering the EVO 3D as soon as it's available :)

Yeah it was a few hours for me, I was logging into my gmail and then the phone rang. Scared the shit outta me! It was Sprint asking how I liked the phone. I felt special.

It is unacceptable that the demand is still high and supply is still low. They are losing sales because of this. It's hurting them more than it would if they had a stock, since this phone will not be outdated for atleast another year.

I'm sure they've done all the necessary research that tells them the few sales they are losing from low stocks are costing them less than ordering larger amounts of a phone that is about to be obsoleted by it's replacement in the next couple of months.

Exactly. HTC is a mutibillion dollar company, and one that put $500 million profit in the bank last year alone. I'd be willing to bet they know what they are doing.

P & L analysis I'm sure is always considered. Agree 100%. HTC has increased its brand recognition because to expand here to the US (before, was much more popular in Europe & Asia), so obviously they have good people to determine what would be ideal for the company's growth in the past few years.

Went into the Sprint store today, mainly for other issues... I know the guys in that store and which ones know their shit. So I found the dude that's most in the know and asked what he knew about the Evo 3D release.

He mentioned the June 6 date (a Monday), though he is not 100% sure. But he felt confident about early June. He mentioned that HTC came to the store a while back and gave all the employees there a demo of the phone. They were all very impressed with the 3D aspect as well as how smoothly it ran overall.

This was a store about 15 miles north of Boston.

I'm curious about the overall lack of information we've been getting on the phone, compared to last year when this forum was hot around this time for the EVO4G

I am curious as well, its been a month since it has been officially announced and not a single word about it since. Then you have the htc sensation that was announced two weeks ago and it seems like you hear stuff about that phone all the time since. I am starting to wonder that the specs or design of the evo3d may not be final after all and that they may be making some last minute tweaks to the hardware.

Can't wait until they have the actual demos in the store so I can make a more definitive decision.

I wasn't following Android phones when the Evo came out.... Was wondering how much demo time the phone had before its official release...

Cause I remember going into a Sprint store 2 weeks before Epic was to be released, and they didn't have demos. The demo phones came out the day of the launch.

As I recall, the Evo wasn't on the floor at my local Sprint store two days before launch, so I think that's policy - nothing on the floor until the launch.

You know what, you're right. I was trying to remember exactly how I made my decision on the initial EVO (since it was a taller and wider phone than I was used to having, coming from the Touch Pro) and it was the dummie phones that I took a look at, prior to making my decision.

Since I wasn't worried about performance over my Touch Pro (I knew it would be MUCH better), I didn't bother looking at an actual working version.

You're right, EarlyMon. It was pretty secretive, but I do remember getting to take a look at one of the "test" versions that a store manager had at a corporate Sprint store. This was a week or so, prior to the EVO's release, they were trying to convince me to upgrade to the EVO and in order to do that, the store manager said, "Technically, I'm not supposed to show this, but take a look at that phone sitting on the counter. Go ahead and pick it up and it'll give you an idea if the EVO is worth upgrading to..."

Only reason I remember that scenario was because I just happened to be having a ton of problems with my Touch Pro a week prior to the EVO's release.

Upgrading on Sprint seems pretty safe to me anyway. Don't like it the phone you just bought? just return it and go back to your old phone. No money lost (except for your own transportation fees and whatever you value your time as).

I will get one and then have 30 days to decide whether it's worth my hard earned money. I can see a decision like this being a bit more difficult for the person who might be wanting to transfer a phone number from another carrier or even just set up a new contract. I wish they did the same thing with cars! IMO, a simple test drive isn't enough to know if a purchase as big as this is going to be a wise one. That said, it sure is better than nothing!

My Hyundai dealer did just that. 3 weeks of having the car, they let me swap it out with one with Nav. It's what I wanted originally but they didn't have it in stock, so I took a lower trim, decided I didn't want to compromise. And they got me the specs I wanted. I didn't pay any penalties or anything.

but yeah, i know that this isn't very common.
