Hi all,

I'm looking for the best price for a genuine battery for the HTC Desire in the UK - does anybody have any preference of sites?

Also, I've noticed a 1200 mAh and a 2400 mAh. I presume the latter would be last longer?

Thanks for any advice.

to be honest i wouldn't trust a non generic battery myself. I do think the one the phone comes with doesn't last as long as i'd like but i can work around it and iot lasts me about a day. Just be careful and make sure you buy a good quality one.

I have 3 non-genuine batteries along with my genuine original, all sourced via ebay with stand alone wall chargers.
There is NO noticeable difference between them in battery life, and I would wager money on some of them being 100% identical with a different label sticker on them.

I've just checked, and the genuine HTC battery is made in China like all the other batteries out there.

People thinking that genuine branded goods like batteries are better and safer, are being deluded. Manufacturer products are usually cheap sourced goods, bought from the same manufacturer/factory as the cheap ebay good, only marked up with massive profit margins, just like most car parts etc.

I brought a non generic battery on eBay and it lasts a lot longer than the regular desire one. With the original battery if I work a 9-5 day I would have to give it a mini charge in the middle of the day to see it through to when I get home (around 6:30) however with my extended it lasts all day and only needs to be charged in just before I go do bed

Which size extended battery did you get? Did it come with the larger cover to accomdate the larger battery?

I'm getting a Desire tomorrow or next, and am considering gettting an extended battery (have also been eyeing a few on eBay).

Every phone I've had, I always purchase an extended battery. The HTC TP that I have now is 2x as thick due to the extra battery I got, AND, I can go about three days+ on a single charge.

Only a 2400mah and yes it came with back cover. With light use I can get around 3 days but on heavy use around a day and a half

3rd party batteries can be just as good, if not better than the name brand.

Example, my camera battery is a weak Canon 800mAh to which Canon wants $80 for locally, the camera was $300,. A place called Batteries Direct nearby has a 1200mAh for $30. It's lasted about 6 months so far, no issues and lasts over 2x as long.

They just started to carry HTC equivilents, so if the price is good I may go for it.
