Root Total Restore?

I'm using the serendipity ROM and I'm kinda of bored with it. I want to revert completely back to original settings, ATT apps and all. Basically the equivalent to a complete restore on an iPhone. Completely unrooted like it came out of the box. How do I do this?

Without any 3rd party apps or anything also.

I'm going to get blasted for just posting a similar thread.. I didn't see this one!

I'm trying to do the same thing- I need to revert to stock in order to hopefully get this dang phone replaced under warranty for GPS issues.

I see Odin and I used it before but I donated my new HP to a friend so all I have is an older Macbook Pro right now to do anything with.

What if I do a hard reset? Will it just reset Serendipity? Or will it revert to OEM?

try downloading one of those GPS fixes in the SGS tools app.
You could always try reflashing to see if that works.
But you will definetly need odin to return your phone

Thanks for the reply,

I've tried every single GPS fix that has come out.. I was living with it for a while but its getting old..

I got it to work to the point that if I ran a utility (I forget which one) first then opened maps it would pretty instantly lock on to my location very accurately, but once I took about 3 steps in any direction it would jump to a precise location 3-15 miles away from where I am, then continue jumping to locations all around me.. I'm pretty sold its a hardware issue..

Do you know if I use the Kies mini update to 2.2 on a PC will it brick my phone or will it work? I have a friend who will let me download and use "legitimate" software but freaks out if I use "dark arts" software..for thinks like "hacking my phone"

Thanks!

Doing any kind or reset that is within the phone will never touch the files that make the difference between one ROM to another. They are files that don't get touched by apps or any options settings, so theres nothing to revert back as far as it is concerned.

Only way to get back to stock is to re-flash those files.

As for Kies, I believe that unless your running stock, it will not even accept the phone as a Samsung product. On one forum or another I recall seeing a post about how Kies just gives an error and says "unable to update firmware" when running a custom ROM.
