how is battery life compare to your previous device?

The same as my N900 and Defy...about 24hours. However my Defy was just updated to 2.2, and its looking like it can do 48 hours.

~ 2-3 hours on average.

A LOT better than my n900 Had even CPU clock profiles, which helped, but nothing as good as the O2x right now.

Well my previous phone went for 5 days on one charge so the O2X isn't as good with 24hours average

Pfft!!! My 900 would last 4-5 days...on wi-fi only, and the SIM card removed.

I was really surprised when I tried that...didn't know how much the 3G radios sapped the battery.

3G saps battery like no tomorrow. I think it is more of a battery hog than the Display. If you have constant wifi signal you should use that instead of 3G.

So i guess living in an area without any sort of 3G signal does have its advantages...oh how i wish i had 3g signal though

More or less the same. Had a Samsung Galaxy (the first one, the crappy one) before with various ROMs. Battery life now is about the same, 24hrs-ish, although I probably use the 2x more than I did the Galaxy since it isn't a piece of s***

Just got my G2x today. When I inserted the battery into the phone it showed like a 20% charge on it. So I plugged it in for a few hours before powering up (finally powered up when it looked like it was about 90% full. Then just a little while later I noticed a note had popped up saying, "battery fully charged, please unplug to conserve power". So I unplugged it and away I went.

That charge lasted me 8 hours and 5 minutes before the device shut itself off. Now mind you, being my first day with it, it barely had 5 minutes of peace before I was picking it back up again and playing around on it. So that's a hair over 8 hours of very, very heavy use.

That's DEFINATELY a lot better than what my stock Droid X battery gave me. Granted that may have been a faulty battery for all I know, but when I first got that phone I was coming off a Blackberry Curve that I had to charge maybe once every two days. So naturally when I opened the box it came in, charged the battery up to full, and had it die on me about 4 and a half hours after I unplugged it (keep in mind that was also extremely heavy use), I was anything but a satisfied customer.... I damn near packaged it back up and sent it back to Motorola.

But the phone had captured my imagination by then, so I ran out and bought the extended battery for it instead (take that Motorola! lol). Which did a MUCH better job keeping it juiced up than the stocker did. Money well spent!

I wonder if they have an extended battery ready to release for the G2x yet?

Update...

Ok so my first day owning my G2x I got just over 8 hours of unplug time. I was really using it a ton that first day.

Second day I was on it a lot too, yet I managed to squeek out a little over 13 hours before it shut off.

Day three I pushed it to 18.4 hours from 100% to 1%... this thing DEFINATELY conserves power a lot better than my DX did.

The stock battery in my LG is outperforming the extended battery I purchased for my DX. I realize that the smaller screen helps some. But the word on the street was that the first few generation dual core devices were going to suck a dogs nuts as far as battery use went. But I'm here to tell you that it absolutely does not.

This thing isn't in any position to challenge my old Blackberry Curve or anything crazy like that. But it's very, VERY good for a large screen, Android smartphone running two 1 ghz processors in it. Much better than I ever imagined it would be.

It makes me wonder why Thunderbolt owners are reporting such horrid battery life when it isn't even a dual core? Or is dual core actually opposite of what everyone had assumed it was going to be, and it somehow helps the device maximize it's rescources?

If that's the case then maybe the HTC Sensation will perform better than some of their other 4.3 inch devices have to date.

Admittedly the first couple of days the battery was dead in half the day as I didn’t put it down but now

Ill take it off charge at 8am and im down to 60-70% dependant on use by that night, I wont put it on charge again until the next evening, by that time it’s usually down to 15%

Today I had drained it from 100% at 9am to < 10% by 3pm with the gps on all day

Its better then my hero was, I&#8217;m surprised (happy) im not charging it every day!

I find mine more or less the same as my N1 was, I generally charge it each night, because I cane the crap out of it each evening, I'll never get great life from any smartphone I suspect

Hmm..? Seems like another Nexus One owner bites the dust.

Did you not notice? been without the N1 for just over a month now.

My second day with the phone and my charges are only lasting 5 - 6 hours. Just waiting to see if the charges will last longer as each day goes on.. hopefully they do.

Lol, do you feel that it is a very big upgrade from the Nexus One?

The biggest upgrade is not having a turd digitizer, and no more Pentile matrix. I used my mates. Desire the other day and it was horrible!

The 1.5GB for apps is awesome too. It's smoother than the N1, but less stable so far as CM is still young.
