Root Quick question

So im new to rooting phones but i just got my phone rooted today and looking around at some different roms and kernals so right now im running bamf 1.5 and i was wondering if i could just put this kernal with it [KERNEL] tb kernels by utkanos im looking at number 1 because there saying that you can get some amazing battery life and not lose alot of speed but its saying *For use with SetCPU? not sure what to do with that let me know thanks :D

As long as you're using a sense kernel on a sense ROM you should be ok. I say should because not all kernels function properly on all phones. A Kernel that I love and have great results with may render your phones useless. Your best bet is to make a backup, wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash away until you find one you're happy with. As the poster above me said, setCPU will allow you to change governors and increase/decrease your CPU speed as well as create profiles. A popular profile is "screen off" where you set the min and max to 245|245 and priority to 100. That way every time you shut your screen off the CPU will idle at 245mhz which will greatly improve your battery life

Wormdoes definitely knows how this stuff works...helped many of us out.

Tell us, did you flash BAMF 1.5 and then do SetCPU. That is what i did several days ago and i am now having very solid results with battery life.

It is actually quite amazing. I kind of feel for the TB owners that sent their phones back because of poor battery life before trying rooting and flashing these options, I think they are missing out on a great device.

Let us know how you do...its addicting...

Yes I did flash BAMF 1.5 first earlier today and just about an hour ago I installed the setCPU I have set up my profile with the screen off at 245/245 and it seems to be working a lot better from what I have seen so far. But I will keep messing around with it tomorrow and see how my battery holds up because normal battery life for.me it will last until 3pm and I take it off at 7am so I'm hoping I can make it to maybe 9pm lol

Which Kernel are you using? The one that came with BAMF? Depending on which governor you're using it may already by defaulted to 245 when the screen is off. This could be causing the lag you're noticing

I forgot what kernel I'm using. I know its different the the one it came with. I did everything at work today since I don't have a windows computer at home so I will have to look on Monday. But I bumped it up a little bit when you first open the app but still have the screen off profile set up. Working a lot better now.

2.6.32.21_bamf_4.3b-gf7c11b8-dirty by adrynalyne

Ok, that's not underclocked with the screen off by default. I remember when I was using that Kernel I experienced some wake lag at 245 as well. If you don't notice any lag after bumping it up then I'd keep it there. If you want to try and squeeze out some more battery by using 245|245 I'd suggest switching to his 4.4.2 Kernel or use one of Imoseyon's undervolted Kernels (extreme, normal or battery saver) all of which are defaulted at 245|245 with the screen off.

Do you know where I can find some more custom skins? I could only find like the honeycomb one.

You mean themes, like retrokid's honeycomb theme? Or do you mean skins like the ones the phone shipped with (metal, wood, blackboard, etc)? I know on xda a member named Gadget has a thread with a ton of skins in it. I run my ROMs de-sensed so I don't mess with skins. AFA themes, I know there are a few, like the honeycomb one, there's a gingersense theme, and a minimal matte one. Thunderbolt Themes and Apps over at xda is where you'll want to look. There's also the KITCHEN where you can create your own status bar and battery among other things.

edit: btw, your signature looks very similar, sir

No, you still have the old radio. You can check by going into settings>about phone>software information>Baseband version

1.16.00.0402w_1 is the new radio. I believe the old radio is 1.13, but don't hold me to it

Ok so i have 1.16.00.0223r would you recomend me flashing the new one?

It improves a few key things, GPS lock, LTE transitioning, reduces the voltage the phone idles at (used to be silly high for some reason) but it also has caused a lot of random reboots for some. I have had 2 reboots in the couple weeks I've been running it. Whether it was radio related I'm not sure.

NO! It's completely different than a ROM/Kernel. You need to flash it via HBOOT. Check out the radio thread on xda. You can find it in my Thunderbolt ROM Thread in the 3rd post under Scotty's mods
