So I used Xrecovery a few months back, loaded a custom ROM. Now I'm ready for a 2.2 Rom and Xrecovery won't boot.

I then downloaded a new copy, updated busybox, and re-installed it (got the three green check marks), but the phone stillo won't boot into Xrecovery. I can press the back button like mad when the SE lettering pops up, but no luck.

I think I had a similar problem.

I had 2.1 installed...then multi touch came out...I didn't upgrade....then I tried to install a custom ROM that had been built for 2.1 multitouch.

Then I selected the ROM and next time I rebooted the phone it didn't allow me to get back to xRecovery.

I suggest you reflash and root....then xRecovery might come back.

Probably want to do this - http://androidforums.com/x10-all-things-root/272949-flashtool-guide-how-n00bies.html#post2243502

Then see if xRecovery comes back.

Just in case you forgot how to use it: make sure you keep the Back button pressed right after "Sony Ericsson" appears on the screen, and release. Do it again, and again. The menu should appear. I usually keep each shot pushed down for half a second.

I do that and nothing. I've used it about 20 times before, but i didn't touch it for about 2 months and it just won't wake up - even after i reinstalled busybox and xrecovery.

Nothing?

I'm stuck not being able to flash new roms?

I think I did that to my phone when I installed a custom ROM that had a new version of Android and firmware for multitouch.

When I went to go check the version of Android I have installed on my phone I noticed that my phone was missing a section in About Android....Firmware was missing.

I had to do this - http://androidforums.com/x10-all-things-root/272949-flashtool-guide-how-n00bies.html#post2243502

I did a reflash, and now everything is working. I selected Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.A.0.504

Hi guys, i'm having trouble to get to the boot screen.

I have installed xrecovery - first using the flashtool and i wasn't sure so i used the xrecovery installer - the result was that i had xrecovery installed. Also checked if busybox is installed and it is.
I have tried the method above and no luck, I have tried to press the back button repeatedly many times and also just holding down the back button - still not getting to the boot menu.

Any help Please guys.

I only rooted yesterday and i want to get a full nandroid backup before i load a ROM, thank you.

You should be holding the back button immediately after you see the Sony Ericsson logo. But if it doesn't work, then it might not have taken.

You followed instructions here -

[RECOVERY] xRecovery 1.0.0 | NEW FEATURES | 30/05/2011 - xda-developers

Got the file from the 137th page of posts in that thread?

I would try again...or try with the other version of Android....reroot and flash
