Damn it, I wish I would of read this thread first.
I live in Rome, GA and my Thunderbolt also went from 3G to 1x around 1:15AM EST. I thought it might of been my fault as I have used the LTE-OFF app to force 1x connections in the past (the area I live in is rural and only offers 1x, but will lose connection completely if it tries searching for 3G). I had read before that certain users of the app had radio problems, so I presumed that I was now facing that same problem.
I rebooted three times, switched the radio signal default though the regular digit dialing, then tried forcing 3G only (which only shows three bars without any 3G/1x signal beside it).
Even though I haven't rooted or flashed a ROM, I know of people who have and lost their 4G and had to flash-back. So I figured I would do a factory reset (oh...the drudgery) and it still did not fix the problem.
It figures that it would happen when Verizon's call center isn't open, but then again if this was intentional, they probably did it when peak time wasn't high.
I'm very frustrated, as we could of at least received a text message to inform us...some of us (me) work third shift and use our phones a lot. I really do hope it is a Verizon issue none-the-less I would hate to have to go through the hassle of dealing with Verizon to help fix my Thunderbolt, as I didn't buy the insurance and would have to go through HTC's warranty policy.
Maybe if we all complain, we can get a $20 credit for this headache. If they would of warned us, I would of just accepted "it happens", but for it to happen across multiple states, it had to be intentional.
