Root New to rooting

I just rooted for the first time a few days ago, so I'm by no means an expert, but here's some of the things you can do after you root:

1. Install ROMS! These basically rework your phone under the hood, as well as changing the look and feel of everything. It offers a level of customization you can't get from just the skins and themes.

2. Install a new kernel. This basically allows for setups for things like better battery life, or overclocking profiles. It probably does more but I'm still learning.

3. Install Root-only software. Titanium Backup is really nice for saving stuff. SetCPU lets you alter your processor speed up or down. ROM Manager gives you options to boot into a recovery console to do full backups of your phone or to switch between ROMs at will.

4. Remove excess crap. Most of the ROMs do this, but you can freeze them or just remove them entirely on your own without using a ROM if you want to.

I'm sure there's a lot more you can do that hopefully someone else will chime in on!
