Help HTC Desire 'Imperfections' ??

Hey everyone,

Here's the thing... I have had my HTC Desire for about 6 months now and I have some slight imperfections I guess with the phone. I have never really cared before but i'm seeing some of them get worse. Here is what I have noticed:

-The back/search key is pretty loose (it moves around when you run your finger over it), also when the 'search' key is pressed it makes a 'crunch' noise if you listen, and if you look in a darker environment it also bleeds light out of the right hand side when pressed.

-If you apply slight pressure to the right of the menu key and look at it, it bleeds light out of the right side and is less solid than it used to be.

-The power button on the top isn't that solid, and neither is the volume rocker.

-On the front of the phone... There is a gap between the soft touch plastic part where the buttons are and the small metal strip under the screen. That gap isn't that tight and gets dust in it, it also looks quite odd it you look in that gap in direct sunlight, almost like there are clips in there that are coming out :/
I do apolagise as this may be just me being very picky but I want to know if anyone else's Desires have any of these little things.

Thanks In Advance, Aaron :)

Power and volume aren't absolutely solid, but I don't think they ever were. Menu is probably the loosest of my bottom keys, and also the most used (so maybe related), but not at a level that causes concern.

Can't say I've noticed any of the other things (though maybe I'll look for light bleed when it gets dark here!).

My phone's about 9-10 months old, but lives in a flip case so most of the buttons are covered when it's in my pocket.

Power button is slightly loose if you press one side of it or the other rather than dead centre. It's recessed within the TPU case I put on it though so I have to press it dead centre anyway. Volume rocker moves if you put your finger on it and rock it from front to back, but is now covered by the case so it feels rock solid under that. Menu button is slightly looser than the other front keys but still clicks and functions perfectly. I think it's pretty much the same with any hardware keys, most Nokia's I remember owning had keys that way.

Got a flip case for mine, but the corners have got a wee bit of damage as they are slightly exposed. Buttons on the bottom are still rock solid after 12 months. Power button moves slightly, but it doesn't feel loose. Not noticed any light bleed (though I'm now going to be looking closely!) Only issue I've got is I think I've got a stress crack forming in the centre of the volume rocker. Its like a faint black line. Had to Google some photos to see if was always there - but no. Only remember seeing it in the last few weeks.

Have case mate barely there case.

Power button is a tiny bit loose, but nothing im worried about.
Back/Search key is solid.
No light bleed through menu button.

Im positive my volume rocker doesnt work sometimes, but it only fails very rarely so again im not that worried. Coming up on a year of ownership.

I think HTC changed their manufacturing process then, because I've had the Desire for a year now, so I've got the original with the AMOLED screen. I used it a lot everyday and occasionally it get's a bit chucked around on my desk and my buttons are all completely solid. I'd go as far as saying they're the same as they were on the day I un-boxed it. I've also got friends who've dropped theirs and stuff and theirs are still in amazing condition (button wise)

I agree, I've hadmine for over a year now, and have experienced no build quality issues. It gets quite heavy use, and all the buttons are as solid as the day I got it.

I think I recall reading that HTC have more than one manufacturing plant, so that may be the cause of the differences people are seeing.

Agreed. I've had mine since the release date and it's still rock solid.

OP, I'd pop into a shop and ask to take a look at a new one to compare.
