Help me break my iPhone addiction!

How long did it take you to learn your 3gs when you first got it. I just think you dont want to put in the time to learn the atrix and just want ease of use. so maybe you should get the i4 as if it upsets you that much about copy and paste on the atrix? Then I guess the 4g/dual cores and so on is really what you wanted after all.

Not trying to harp on ya at all. Just what I read from your post.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Just remind yourself that your previous phone was an awesome MP3 player that someone added cell phone features to. Your Atrix is a handheld computer/cell phone that can also play music. Honestly the comparison is Apples (pun intended) to Oranges...

Thanks! I'm actually a computer programming student and the iPhone is the only Apple product I ever liked. Everything else is either Windows or Linux for me. I feel like I have to make this switch eventually or I'll be betraying some kind of programmer honor code by having an iPhone. :)

It didn't take very long to learn the 3GS, just like it's not taking long to learn the ATRIX.
It's not that I don't want to learn it, it's just weird how I start to almost panic when I try to do something simple that I've gotten SO use to doing on the iPhone over the past two years and it's not immediately apparent how to do it on Android. I feel like Apple has sunk its greedy little teeth into me!

I understand. go to a rehab center and say I have an addiction to Apple. question have you compared your atrix speed to one of the newer Android phones and seen if its just as fast or faster? Like the thunderbolt, charge, incredible2?

Dude I own an iphone 4 and an atrix. I would choose my iphone 4 any day. The abomination known as motoblur makes the difference in specs a moot point, it bogs the phone down way too much. Then factor in that the iphone 4 battery life is still better, and the screen is definitely sharper as well. Don't get me wrong I like my Atrix, but I would choose my iphone 4 any day of the week. Specs don't mean squat if the software its running on is crap.

I also have a windows phone that runs on a first gen 1ghz snapdragon processor, the same one on the Evo and Incredible. The smoothness on my windows phone slaps my atrix like a pimp does his hoe.

Yeah, motoblur is my least favorite skin from any OEM. Have you tried gingerblur, especially after 3.0? It's available at XDA and I love it. If you're not keen on making tweeks, you can also just download launcher pro (or any other home replacement, launcher pro is my personal favorite) and use that instead.

If not... sell it or take it back!! It's way too expensive to own if you dislike it.

To the OP:

iOS is amazingly, perhaps groundbreaking-ly, intuitive. It's iPhone's greatest strength. I even suggested one to my Mom, who sucks at computers, but can zip through her iPhone now. Android does not share this strength. In fact, it can be downright confusing if you're coming from iOS! But Android's strength is that it can act and behave, well, pretty much any possible way you could ever want it to!

I would suggest you just stick with it (and always look for solutions to problems and ways to make your phone fit YOU as best as possible. If after, say, the middle or end of summer, you still get annoyed with Android, then I'd say switch back - iOS just works for you, nothing wrong with that. But give it some time, and check XDA developers an read about the projects available and in development, maybe something will interest you? And don't forget the market, lots of neat widgets and gizmos can be found there, and browsing the app forums at android and just browsing through the market will give you PLENTY of ideas :)

Well I got my atrix for free so its worth keeping. I'm not too keen on the whole rooting process with Motorola phones with SBF and all that jazz. I've rooted/unrooted my Inspire 4g about 10 times now so i'm comfortable with that. I just have this feeling that because of whole bootloader situation with Motorola phones its more risky to root and flash a rom on it. I've read stuff on it but still am confused with how recoveries work on it cause I don't think Clockword Mod is on it. I may be wrong but from what I gather you root, flash the rom, then if you don't like it..you have to SBF the phone is that right?

Still, then why not sell it?? You know that you could easily get around $500 for that on swappa, ebay, these forums?

Check out Tenfar's recovery on XDA! I think it may even be included in one of the atrix "ROMs." I totally understand your hesitation... screw Moto for making expensive devices that just make me feel uneasy about using them the way I want. I wouldn't really be too worried about just rooting, especially if you use something like gladroot after time has passed and enough people have rooted / unrooted without experiencing issues, but you're right; anything is possible!

You've just been dumbed down by the iOs software. Android seems complicated sometimes when you are trying to do a simple tasks but you will find that sometimes its just a matter of pressing and holding an option to get the desired selections.

When I first switched from an iPhone to Captivate, I too would get frustrated because I couldn't figure out simple things until I googled them and found out just how easy it was. I was just used to a different way.

I've been using Android now for a year and I can definitely say I would NEVER go back to iPhones simplistic system. I'm all about personalization and customization.
