Official Netflix in Market for Evo 4g 2.x

How are you guys getting the HDMI out to work? I plug it in, get the HDMI icon in the notification bar but Netflix never outputs to the screen. I'm not getting audio or visual. (Yes, the monitor is set to the correct input)

Did everyone else's just work out of the box, so to speak? Or did you have to do something special?

Same here. Except I get audio and no visual. I can also view sideshows (obviously with no sound)
Of course I can use the 'fullhdmi' app to make it work, but then it's choppy.

Wow, some of you guys would b**** about Jessica Alba bringing you a sandwich in bed wearing nothing but a smile because she didn't cut the crust off or cut it in triangles.

Is the app ugly? Yes. Who cares as long as the video is as good as it is. I live in an area with crappy 3g and despite a long initial buffer time the quality was darn good. So what if you cant manage your dvd que or the suggested movies doesn't return that many results. You can still do all of that from Netflix's website. Considering that none of us were even supposed to get this we should be happy that we have anything, let alone an app that streams this well even with a crap connection. I love it and this is just another reason I love my phone.

Why is it that you think you aren't "supposed" to have it? You do know it's an official Android app now right? Or did I misunderstand the official release of it?

And what is wrong with people wanting the app to be better? I don't even use it but there's nothing wrong with people wanting the app to be better and I'm sure it will get better in time.

What do you mean none of us were supposed to get this? From all respects we should have had this last year. That leaves so much time to develop a decent app. But that's beside the point.

I don't care if the app is ugly, I care that the app is barely functional outside the actual movie viewing. I also care that the trend of Netflix over the past year has been downward with respect to the functionality of their apps.

Originally the Wii required a disc to run Netflix, and it included nearly everything that was available on the website, in a very efficient and comprehensive format. Then they changed to a Wii channel, with no disc. Guess what? The Wii version is now barely more functional than our Android version. The same thing happened to the iPad. It started with a fully functional app with all the bells and whistles that were available on the Netflix website. Now? It's a POS that runs the same as our Androids. So I'm not expecting our app to ever become more functional unless people really start complaining. It can be SOOOOOOOOO much better than it is, and people need to realize that.

The general trend of Netflix has been downward with respect to their apps. I love Netflix, it has been incredible watching that company murder Blockbuster, after Blockbuster stopped catering to the consumer. Now I'm wondering if that's what it's going to take to get Netflix back on track? The plan is for Netflix to eventually become 100% online streaming once their streaming selection gets to a certain point... but I can't see that being a really good thing when their interface just keeps getting worse and worse.

Critic I'm with you and I don't even have a netflix account. Seeing as though we are the consumers we should be able to offer suggestions to fix the app, which is why they have reviews in the first place.

I'm sure that it will get remedied, my guess is that a "Pro" version will come out with all of what you want. At least if they are smart that is what they will do. Then charge a dollar or 2 to download it, lots of money to be made there.

Android Owners: Netflix Has Good News and Bad News

Qualcomm promises Netflix streaming support on 'future Android devices' with Snapdragon -- Engadget

Every news release I have read said that nobody was getting this until the new snapdragon processors came out because they could support the necessary DRM. So yes, I agree that we should have had this months ago, but from all communications from Netflix and Qualcomm nobody without one of those new processers in their phones was going to have access. Thus far the app works great (yes it is ugly but stable from what I've seen) and does everything most people would need (playing movies and managing their instant que) at least in my opinion.

All that being said, I apologize if I came on strong, it was not directed at anyone in particular.

classic post.

My heart agrees with this post 100%. I was worried that the picture would suck under 3g, but even with 3g it is wonderful after the initial buffer. Too me, it overwhelms all of the listed faults.

With that said, I understand that people who have waited expected more out of the app. I do think though that sometimes function is way more important than the app it is housed in.
