So, how is the OTA treating you?

Rebooting - sometimes cured by reset, per my post above.

Going to bite the bullet right now and factory reset my phone. Have had two reboots and my battery is horrible. Usually at this time of day I still have about 70% battery, today I am down to 31%. Not Good.

Crossing my fingers that a factory wipe will fix my issues after this update. It does make sense to wipe (unfortunatly) since perhaps the update is not playing well with one of my many installed apps. Only way to rule it out is to start fresh.:(

If it's any encouragement, those links lead to a backup strategy to help either a) restore after reset or b) restore in case you'll need a new phone.

Also explains _why_ this sort of thing happens on an update, if you care to read the tech reason.

Best luck!

since the update I have had 3 random reboots one of which i was on a phone call. Prior to the update I have never had a random reboot. Other than that the phone seems the same. My batter life seems a little better but that could be my imagination, 3g-4g transition has not changed at all and GPS I have not checked yet because I haven't used it since the update but a lot of people are saying that has improved.

I think there is something to the fact people have issues the longer they had their phones prior to the update. I had a tb replacement the day before the update came out and mine is running great. With my dinc I had it months before the update and it really sucked after it! Just my experience anyway.

Update is MANDATORY

Meaning that even if you hold out, it will be forced onto your phone whether you like it or not.

Not his fault that the update is possibly faulty. Even if he DID knowingly install faulty software, he has no choice in the matter.

True. Once the update is pushed, you can't stop the download. You can "Defer" the installation say if you've got little juice left on your phone, but as they say in some science fiction show, "Resistance is Futile!"

On Wednesday, the phone rebooted on me. It actually woke me up to the lightning/thunder sound it makes on the boot screen. Strangely, it's thunderstormed every day here for the past 4 days and the phone noise was the thing that woke me up.

I received the update on Thursday night and am not rooted. Friday morning, two more random reboots and a call to VZW. I get my 14 day worry free guarantee "extended" (it's been a month since I've had the phone) and took it back today and exchanged it for a brand new one with everything else, down to the sim card.

So today, I received a brand new replacement. The first thing I did was activate the phone, download the software and then did a hard reset.

Then after all of my applications downloaded from the marketplace after the hard reset, the software update downloaded again.

It's awesome that you've gone through great lengths to help other people out who are experiencing problems, but have you ever heard of this happening?

Anyone else for that matter?

Keep in mind, I haven't had any reboots yet but I'm cautiously optimistic at this point...

What does everyone call super fast GPS lock???
Mine locks in 5-7 minutes (on a good day) is considered super fast

Instantly. As in the second the GPS is turned on. It is wonderful.:D

Mine was doing that before the update do the the GPS Status free app. Get it, install it, use it to clear your GPS ca$h, and then use it to "download." Works like a charm.

That's bizarre - but yes, I've heard of that exactly twice last year on HTC phones.

The nearest anyone guessed was that the orig update was messed up (all it takes is a small amount of info to lie about whether the update took).

In those cases, many others were successful with the factory reset, so there was no correlation to the second update being caused by the reset.

Not claiming to know all - but that's the info I have.

Thanks for the help but I just went for it and factory reset my phone. I had it back to pretty much how I had it before (all apps downloaded and preferences set in under 45 minutes. Pretty painless.

I've done this plenty of times when I had my eris so its nothing new to me. One thing I was surprised about was that google remembered my wallpaper, sound settings, etc which helped alot!

So far so good! Actually feels a bit snappier.

If you've done the update and you're having gps lock issues. Try clearing your cache and reboot the phone. That solved my problem. Now I get locks under 20s. It used to take me 2 minutes to get a lock.

No dice... I just cleared google maps' cache and rebooted the phone, it still took around 5 minutes.

Now are you able to achieve your lock so quickly from not having the GPS on then enabling it once you enter google maps or do you have your GPS always enabled?

OK I tested my GPS and I can confirm that it is indeed fixed, used it 3 times and all three times GPS locked on quick and with no problems, where as before My GPS before the update would take 5 minutes just to lock on. The battery still seems a little better, though I'm still not sure. I've had 3 random reboots so far so hopefully thats it.

Weird Battery Issue, not sure if anyone else has noticed.

For the Past Two Mornings, right before I unplug my phone the LED Is Green - meaning the battery is fully charged.

When I Unplug it and look at my battery level it is only at 95% ?!?!? This is a new thing since the update and after my Factory Reset it is still an issue.

Going to keep an eye on this one but this is another thing to add to the list.

I noticed the same thing this morning. I unplugged my phone and it was showing 95%. Strange.

I've noticed that as well.

My phone has now gone from random rebooting to random shut downs after a battery pull. Woke up this morning and the phone was off. Thankfully, I woke up before my alarm was supposed to go off and caught it.

About 30 minutes ago, it shut down on its own again. Should I take it in to a corporate store or call in?
