Official Netflix in Market for Evo 4g 2.x

So is this the only way to get HDMI working with the Netflix app? Third party utility?

How's the performance? Any lag caused by the HDMI mirroring?

Yes, you'll need a third party app for HDMI to work with this. I haven't experienced any lag or other issues so far with the mirroring. I've been using it with the Netflix and HBO GO apps and it works great :)

So I installed HDMwin to get Netflix working on my television only to find out that you need a custom kernel for it to work. Supposedly it'll work at 800x600 without the custom kernel but it wasn't working at all for me. So I flash the kernel linked on the developer's page and while HDMI mirroring did indeed work wifi no longer did. I saw a few other posts Googling around from people experiencing the same issue with this custom kernel.

Anyone available to PM me with some (very) specific instructions on what they did to get Netflix working via HDMI on their Unrevoked-rooted Evo? Maybe we can type it up into a guide for the other newbs like myself that will undoubtedly come here looking for answers.

I also have an unrooted EVO, and I'm currently streaming Netflix from my phone to my hotel TV via the HDMI out port. So awesome! All I did was download an app called FullHDMI, can't remember if it was free or not (I got it a few weeks ago). Run this app, plug in an HDMI cable, fire up the Netflix app, and your good. Works pretty good, the video quality is a little spotty some times, but its definitely functional. Hope that helps.

How are you guys getting the HDMI out to work? I plug it in, get the HDMI icon in the notification bar but Netflix never outputs to the screen. I'm not getting audio or visual. (Yes, the monitor is set to the correct input)

Did everyone else's just work out of the box, so to speak? Or did you have to do something special?

I would like to know the answer to this.

How exactly you get it to work? What 3rd party app would make this work?

I haven't gotten it to work on mine yet. HDMwin doesn't seem to work at all, even after replacing the kernel with the one they specified. I was able to mirror my screen while outside of Netflix, but Netflix keeps erroring when I attempt to play anything with the cable plugged in.

I've heard FullHDMI works but am unwilling to shell out the cash to try it.

There's a free version of FullHDMI as well. AFAIK, its the same as the paid version, the paid version is simply a donate version.

I just downloaded it and will give it a go tonight. Unfortunately we don't have a netflix streaming device in the bedroom and we use a window AC unit in there when summer heat in unbearable (rather than cooling the whole house for mass $$$$$). This should make things a little better.

EDIT: Looks like the free version doesn't support landscape. If I get this free version working I will just buy the paid app tonight. THIS is the sort of thing I like to see devs doing. Giving us a trial before we shell out cash only to run out of the 15 minute window to return an app we don't want. :)

I was bored at work the other day and flashed the latest stable release of Cyanogenmod. HDMwin works with Netflix beautifully now. It must have not liked something about either of the kernels I was using before, either the stock Sense one or the one devs linked in the marketplace. Whatever comes with Cyanogenmod seems to work though.

Downloaded this last week on my stock EVO 4G. There is a bit of lag time in the program when choosing things in queue but once it loads up it looks amazing. I have FIOS and TIVO at home and the damn netflix goes out all the time from the crappy TIVO so I just turn on the phone and I'm good to go. Watched an episode of Nip/Tuck at the gym the other day and made my 2 miles of the treadmill fly by. Sure the app could use some work and I'm sure it will get some updates but I really could not be happier with this app. Great job Netflix!

My buddy on a Droid2 pointed out that there is a hacked netflix apk out there that allows the use of Netflix on basically all Android phones (it bypasses the model check... and is different from the mod Phandroid had in the news). This does have me a bit worried. If piracy was their (Netflix) main concern, they could easily just shut the streaming down on Android all together if their security measures are bypassed so quickly.

I can't find any fault with this app if it plays videos from my streaming queue. While I am sure there will be a few bugs here and there it's a thin client plain and simple.

If you want thick client capabilities use the browser version on your PC or laptop.

Between Netflix, Rhapsody and my Slingbox my entire mobile entertainment needs are met 100%.

Now lets see if the new HTC Evo View 4G has the these three apps for it. If they do I can die happy.

There really is no pleasing some people.

As it turns out, there are some TVs that are simply incompatible with these HDMI cable (or that is how I understand it). Out LG in the living room does fine. I wanted this for the bedroom. All it does is reboot my phone as soon as I plug it in (on a Dynex LCD). Huge bummer. Not the app's fault - but rather the TV set maker's.
