Help Can we Sync Facebook?

They took this out on Google's end. It technically violated something in Google's requirements for programs on the market. Tried finding the article, but I don't remember where I saw it at.

Basically, Facebook is supposed to sync to our phone and not vice versa. I'm pretty sure that's the gist of it. Facebook has to update their API in order to meet the requirements of Google.

So for now, no syncing with FB!

That's unfortunate. My blackberry could sync with Facebook, and I was so-so about it. I really liked that it updated my stuff, however, Google Sync didn't like the blackberry, so it'd screw up my contacts and calendar. Since my new Android is, well, an Android, Google Sync should work phenomenally, but now I can't sync with Facebook. >_< I hope facebook updates the API.

thanks for the info, that does suck..i liked how it sync'd up..oh well not the most important feature on the phone so no big deal.:D

I agree. All the advantages of this phone VASTLY outweigh the disadvantage of no facebook syncing. If you REALLY needed all the facebook information, you could do it manually. I also think there's some Facebook app or something that'll sync facebook to google for you.

If you find in dire need of contact pictures and all you Facebook contact info all in one place you will have to perform a few steps. They are universal in any email service, you just have to know where some of these settings are. Today we will be using Yahoo Mail and gMail my personal standards for all my email needs.

Step 1.) login to your yahoomail.

Step 2.)go to contact - then choose import email from facebook (it suck all your friend email address into your contact list)

Step 3.)export yahoo csv. download/save it.

Step 4.)login to your gmail

Step 5.)upload the csv file to gmail contact.

Step 6.) Merge your double contacts

Step 7.) Go to your Nexus S and turn off gMAIL Contacts Sync Radio Button

Step 8.) Wait about 60 seconds then turn it on.

Step 9.) Download SYNCMYPIX from the Marketplace or App Brain ( links and QR codes will be at the bottom)

Step 10.) Login using Facebook credentials

I know this process is long and arduous, but trust me, if done correctly (making sure gMAIL contacts match yMAIL contacts match Facebook contacts, etc) you will always have a perfectly clear and non pixilated profile pic on your caller id. I have tested this and it works. If you need screenshots or have any question please do NOT hesitate to ask. I am considering doing this, but why step 9? If you sync your contacts between yahoo and Gmail why do you need Syncmypix?

I have found two better ways. Maybe they've been mentioned but I haven't read the whole thread.
1-In the market search for "social buzz" it may prompt you to install another app that works with it. (These are from t mobile lol) This is much faster than sync my pix and actually gives you some data though not much.
2-try the app "socialite" it also syncs contacts but I'm not sure to what extent yet. I just installed it so its still working on syncing up.
