Recording problem with DailyRoads Voyager

I want to set the application up to where it starts and turns on video recording when plugged into the car charger. That can be done, but what happens is, it saves each 60 second interval when I do this instead of having to touch the screen when I want to save the last 60 seconds.

Am I doing something wrong here? How can this be done?

That is the normal operation. Video files are constantly saved, and then later deleted to make room for new ones. You allocate a certain storage space (say 800 MB), and when this space starts to fill up, the oldest video files are deleted.

When you touch the screen, you indicate that something interesting happened on the road, and you want to retain that video sequence. In that case, the latest video file(s) are moved into a separate folder, so they are not deleted during the cyclic cleanup process.

Thanks.

So if it's recording all the time and saving the recordings one at a time, if I am 30 seconds into one recording and touch the screen to save, it will take the 30 seconds from that clip and 30 seconds from the one before it and merge them? (when I set a 60 second limit)

That is awesome that the developer for this app is active in the androidforums community.

Android hasn't evolved that much yet, so we can't merge video files together. The best I can do is to just retain a number of video files already recorded. You have an option in the Video settings, called "Only retain" with a default value of "last 2 files". In your scenario when you touch the screen, the current 30-seconds clip is retained, along with the previous 60-seconds clip.

Thanks. I have mine set to 3 so that should be good.

I recently took a road trip and the app worked perfectly on my Samsung S5. I tried using it at work today, (I'm a truck driver), did not change ANY settings, and all I get are colored bars. I've tried several different settings, but that's all I get. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it. I have the latest Android release. I don't understand why suddenly it won't record other than colored bars...
