F1 2011

I do like a bit of F1, I don't really see the big deal with ferrari though, specially after they screwed button in australia, but then I've never been a ferrari fan, and never will be, don't like alonso much either, id much rather root for the brits, although fair play to vettel for having the talent, don't get me wrong, its takes a lot of talent to drive f1, so credit to the lot of them, but more so for the honest drivers.

This season should be good, and interesting.

The thing for me with Alonso is he was the driver that driver that knocked Schumacher off his perch so I've been a fan ever since. He doesn't do himself any favours though with his tendency to spit his dummy out every now and then. If he'd kept a cooler head in his year at McLaren he would probably have been world champion that year not Kimi.

I fail to see how Ferrari "screwed" Button in Australia? Button couldn't get around Massa (even using the DRS) and when he did he went wide, didn't yield the position and got hit with his drive through.

Exactly, they didn't give him time to yield, they pitted knowing that would force a drive through, instead of letting him just give the position back to massa, and oh look the drive through ment ferrari got both their cars through not just one. This is exactly why ferrari and their international assistance (fia) are becoming more unpopular, its getting to obvious that they are favored

Ferrari is to F1 what the Yankees are to baseball. The traditional big name where many in and around the sport think the sport is doing well if the big boy is on top. Now as to whether there is stuff orchestrated behind the scenes to get that to happen is another matter

I'll have to go back at some point and double check, but I believe Alonso pitted five laps after the overtake, and Massa six or seven. Please don't tell me that Button didn't have time to give the position back. Why didn't he just IMMEDIATELY give it back?

Also, if the FIA SO dearly loves Ferrari and will favor them then why in England last year when Hamilton overtook the pace car did it take 30 minutes for the Stewards to judge him with a drive through? A drive through that was completely meaningless because they gave him enough time so as he wouldn't lose a spot.

So, not quite as exciting a race as Australia, but a good race none the less. Those Renaults have now had two great starts two weekends in a row. Ferrari continues to lack pace in qualifying but is close in pace to the Bulls in race trim. I hope we can get some more competition to the Bulls or else this season could get boring, and quickly.

The one thing that got me this weekend was the penalty given to Hamilton and Alonso. I didn't see any issue on what either of them did. I didn't see any excessive weaving on Hamilton's part at all on the prior lap, and frankly I think Alonso didn't understand just how much slower Hamilton's car was to the rest of the field. I think the Stewards made a huge mistake with this one.

Totally agree. I haven't seen any replays yet but I saw nothing in the race that indicated either deserved a penalty. It was just good racing that ended in a racing incident. I thought it was a pretty exciting qually & race with the new tyres and DRS adding to the fun.

And kudos to Heidfeld for making me eat my words, awesome start followed by a very solid race.

They're basically saying on the lap before the clip that Hamilton made more than one blocking move on Fernando coming down either the back, or main straight. Then they hit Fernando for the clip on Lewis' right rear. What's the point of racing if the driver in front can't defend their position? Not to mention the fact they didn't hit Massa up two weeks ago with some of the driving he was doing to keep Button behind him. I get flagging lapped drivers, but come on, let the guys race.

As for Fernando clipping Lewis' wheel. I still say there was something else going on with that McLaren, it was way down on speed and I don't think it was just the tires causing it. I think Fernando just didn't anticipate the speed differential coming out of the corner and found himself right underneath the McLaren's gearbox before he knew it.

Excellent assessment, I agree with each of your points.

So far there's been a bit of excitement this season.

What an awesome amazing Chinese GP :D
Storming driving from Hamilton and Webber.
Hamilton's tyre strategy was spot on this time.

Agreed, what's more impressive is that Hamilton was less than 30 seconds from having to start the race from pit lane due to his mechanics draining gas out of his engine bay. As for Webber, I give him the second most impressive F1 drive of all time. First though still has to be Reuben's drive at the 00 German Grand Prix when we won the race from dead last place.

Now for the humorous part; please let the jokes commence of Button pitting in the wrong pits Sunday. I WISH they would have released some of the radio transmissions after that happened.

I'll still take Senna at Donnington in 93 but we need not argue. Webber's drive was inspired. Although it also clearly shows how wrong Red Bull was to put or change Vettel to a 2 stop. Still it appears we might have some competition this season which is good. If McLaren can contend and Mercedes improves that will be nice. Ferrari surely will spring back a bit once on European soil and with their next wave of updates. Im still not backing away from a prediction for a 12 win season for Vettel yet though

I guess this season it's seem one sided title challenge for me and what the hell Ferrari is doing! They need improved car otherwise they struggle to finish in top 3.:D

Well, word on the street is they're aiming to have a B spec car for Turkey next weekend. They're aiming to have a new nose, new front wing with flexi and they're adjusting the rake angle of the rear suspension.

While I'm glad, it pisses me off that Ferrari is copying Red Bull. For gods sake, you are Ferrari, every team should be copying YOU, not the other way around.

Its probably a good thing for the causal F1 fan that the Bulls have so many KERS problems and it keeps the actual race tight. Still, with 4 wins in 5 races Vettel is really starting to run away with this as predicted. If they ever get it working right and proper 100% of the time I almost dont see the point in other cars taking the track
