Root [Kernel][AOSP] Tiamat 4.1.0 | 2.6.38.8 |

I'm still running Tiamat 4.0.1 and probably won't upgrade until the next CM7 release since it's been so freaking solid. I used the viperboy v1 -50 script and I'm getting amazing battery life. Got a solid 36 hours off a full charge the other day with regular usage. I forgot to plug in my phone two nights ago, so I briefly charged at work yesterday morning to about 48% at 9:00 am and by the time I went to bed at midnight last night I was around 15%. Even with heavy usage it would get me through a full day, and that's really all I can ask for.

On the -50 script, I noticed that I would often have to hit the power button twice for my screen to wake, but I'm not seeing that now. I guess maybe my phone has learned to adjust to the undervolt?

are you supposed to leave the charger on longer then when the battery reaches 100% w/ an SBC kernel?? is there a recommended way of charging other than the norm?? just flashed my first SBC kernel last night

The best way is to use a lower amp charge like usb to the comp and leave it over night so it can trickle its way up slowly and fully.

LoL OMG!!!! I HATED THAT!!!! and they recommended rebooting it daily!! eff that!! man i hated that, the tiny screen, the sluggish performance, the fact that its Canadian(jk lol) even the new rim products dont compare... the only thing that i think rim has the advantage it im their email servers. seems like they have dedicated servers that push your emails the second they arrive in your inbox, and yeah yeah yeah i know you can change the update frequency on the evo, but it negatively affects the battery doing so. oh well lol

and hell yeah we should start an rEVOlution!!! i wonder what the evoII will be like :: pensive head scratching ::

forgive me for being a newb, but what is this viperboy script you speak of? I'm new to all of the kernel stuff, so I'm trying to get this kick ass battery life you all are talking about without using a SBC (still too scared to make that jump).

take the jump i swear you will be happy. i used to be like you. i just kind of stayed away from them. but now plenty of people have had time to use them, and i have as of yet heard anybody complaining that the sbc kernel killed their battery or have had their phone exploded. the benefits far out weigh the issues.

as for the viperboy scripts here it is: [MOD]Battery Saver Mod and Phone Stability Mod for AOSP Kernels v2 |Updated 5.7.11| - xda-developers i have not tried it myself, but i will have sometime this weekend to satisfy my flasholicism.:D

Haha, I really miss my BB from time to time. I didn't like the reboots. At the very least, five minutes. And battery pulls were so common. Any issue, 'pull the battery'.
I really liked auto on and auto off though... And I got killer bb life.

Oh, just downloaded the 4.0.3 tiamat kernels (sbc and without)

I recently flashed CM7 from stock and am seeing extremely poor performance. I followed some instructions on the CM forums and wiped everything completely before reinstalling. No difference.

At this point I'm willing to try a new kernel. Never done that before. I know there's some debate on the whole SBC thing, so I'm probably going to steer clear of that one for now. I'm not seeing a whole lot of information on the Tiamat-aosp site though. Can anyone give a quick rundown of any known issues or even just things they've experienced using this kernel? Is anything going to stop working? HDMI mirroring with Netflix, Wimax, etc?

Headcase, don't seat it...just give it a try and find out. Like I said above, the Tiamat SBC I flahsed is incredibly good....for me anyway. I am on Kings GB R4 which is CM7 based. The stock kernel with it sucked big time. I get a long full days' use now and usually still end up with about 30% left by the next morning...24 hours later....
