Root GingerShedBread/GSB

It's true that 18 months is a long time for a battery.

You may want to try recalibrating the battery, though. Install this app, wait to the charge hits 100%, and hit the recalibrate button. It may be that your battery use stats are out of whack for the Cyanogen framework.

Just ran the battery to 0%, charging, installed app, now gonna let it charge to 100%. Lets see how this goes.

Cool, will give it a spin tonight.

I'm guessing there's no way to get rid of apps from your app drawer? Things such as DSP Manager that I'll probably never use...

Either LP+ or ADW Ex lets you remove items from that screen. You could also use TiBu to freeze apps that you don't want.
You can delete the apps using Titanium Backup also.

Not sure if that battery optimizer worked because I installed 3.3 just now, but listened to mp3s for about 45min this morning and battery went down 16% or so I believe.

I'm guessing I'll try the optimizer again when I'm home and have the phone charger plugged in.

It's not a battery optimizer. What happens is that the phone stores the state of the battery, but when you change ROMs, each ROM uses battery a bit differently. The battery charge meter predicts battery use based on the stats, and all that the app does is clear the stats from the phone and allow it to start predicting from scratch. Running it again isn't going to help much.

You may want to clock the phone down to see if that helps. Try a 604 max, 245 min with the smartass governor and see if the phone drains more slowly.

Does it require a factory reset?

I think that the general advice is Nandroid backup and try it with a Dalvik wipe only (though remember that with 3.4 you no longer need to reflash google apps again.) If you have problems, then try a wipe data/factory reset. As far as I know, it's still CM 7.1 RC, so it should just need a Dalvik wipe.

Just wondering if anyone has had any MMS sending/receiving problems? I haven't noticed any until just recently. I thought I saw that there had been an issue when transmitted between an iPhone that had been addressed... I seem to be having some difficulty with MMS regardless of carrier, OS, or device.
Is it just me? Is there a known bug/fix? Could it just be Handcent acting up? Does this font make my ass look fat?

Ah, well... your loss. :p Hope it was retired respectuflly.

I'm going to attribute it to Handcent being a rat bastid' in this instance. Just sent an MMS via native app and it sent off without issue this time. Yet to receive back though so I guess it's still a game of wait and see.

No loss. ;) I still have two of them that I flash roms on their just not active. I use wi-fi with em.:)

Could you elaborate, please?

Well, I think the "3.5" means that Workshed updated the ROM to version 3.5 in the last day or so. "ODEX" means that, as of 3.4, he's packaged many of the /system apps in to pre-Dalvik compiled ODEX files, which will make the ROM boot a lot faster, at least the first time that you use it.

I understand THAT part. ;) It's the 'darn nice' part I was curious about.

I got the Droid Eris, my 1st smartphone, about a week ago and was impressed with it for about 2 days! Then it started laggin, it would take a few seconds to load my contacts, and other apps, battery was drainin in 6 hours so i started cruisin the market for apps to speed me up what did i find? All kinds of ATK apps, now havin grown up on Windows computers i looked at all the processes runnin and was blown away...10 things + runnin at once!?!? so after tryin a few ATK i noticed i could kill certain apps/processes and they would pop back up in 1 sec. Now anyone with 1/2 a brain should know (i got about 9/16ths) if you bring in an outside app and it does THAT somethins wrong, so after a couple days i decided the ATK were a waste of time and started reading all the posts on rooting i could, i was a little optimistic at first but then i said screw it im doin it. I found the 1 click Eris root and ROM over at xda-developers, great site too, so i did the root and decided to use GSB v3.5 ODEX | GingerBread 2.3.4 [CM-7.1.0 RC0 NIGHTLY] I have had it installed for 3 days and the difference is AMAZING, i havent even thought about a task killer or any other productivity app, I do have SystemPanel Lite but havent killed 1 thing, i have been havin too much fun on my phone now, so my point is this: everyone complainin about their Eris bein slow, just man up and do what i did, i guarantee it you will be 10x happier with your phone!! PEACE OUT im gonna go play on my phone!!

Yeah, you actually don't need a task killer. It takes care of that all on its own. In fact, using one often slows things down and uses more of your battery.

Glad it's working well for you.

Hopefully someone could help me out with this I installed 3.5 Odex on both my phone and my wifes. My phone had Condemed *sp v 6 and my wife was running Nonsensikal 16.1. Since installing this rom she is not able to receive text messages. Did I miss a step. Do I need to delete that Secure file first? We wiped and flashed 3x with the same results.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
