Thinking about switching from Thunderbolt to Droid Charge. Good idea?

Also can you use date while using voice on 3G like the Thunderbolt.

Charge won't do that. But upcoming Revolution will do VoLTE (voice over LTE) in the future. Its UI walkthru video just came up. Screen looks pretty bright, crisp with punch colors. It also does HDMI mirroring unlike Tbolt.

You can't do voice and data at the same time over 3g with the Charge. That is the only thing the Thunderbolt has over it. I dumped my Thunderbolt for the Charge about 3 weeks ago and never looked back.

I switched from tb to charge. Very happy. Gorgeous screen much lighter and great battery life.

+1 Switched yesterday after 16 hours still had 30% Battery.

Just curious how your getting your battery to last so long. Barely using phone and battery sucks ????

My use today was 1 to 1.5 internet hours, 30 minutes game play a couple phone calls and on and off checking email and 4 min youtube video.
All i have done is charge it last night turned it on at 5:30 Am i just put it back on the charger and had 30% left a lot better then the TB was.

I test drove my wife's Thunderbolt for about 10 days before she exchanged it for an iPhone 4. I elected for the Charge. In my opinion battery life alone is enough reason to jump ship. The T-bolt has better bench marks but looking at side-by-side "face-offs" or "dog fights" those bench marks only translate to a speed differences of only a fraction of a second. And what good is the trivial difference in speed and performance if you're constantly looking for an outlet or a car charger?

On the other hand, the Charge is aesthetically a nicer phone. Screen blows T-bolt out of the water. The shape is not only unique but it feels more natural in your hand. Charge is lighter and thinner. Some people knock the 'plastic' feel, but the T-bolt backing is also rubberized plastic. Moreover, *both* phones have gorilla glass so the screens will stand up to reasonable wear and tear (and even some negligent damage).

The other criteria are more along the lines of personal taste. Sense vs Touch wiz. Vertical app drawer vs horizontal. Samsung vs HTC. For me, the T-bolt looks like most other android phones and just about every other HTC phone. Just a basic black rectangular block. Nothing fancy or even novel about it. Even LG revolution falls into the same pattern. Oh, and the kickstand is nice, but it muffles the speaker so the phone's sound is compromised. Who's bright idea was that? Also, no HDMI out on the T-bolt. Finally, I like the camera better on the Charge, but again subjective opinion.

No phone is perfect, as people point out the Charge's lack of a notification LED and inability to do simultaneous voice and data on 3G. But looking at the current single core 4G LTE smart phones available now, I would choose the Droid Charge.

However, Sense blows Touchwiz 3.0 out of the water...And the build quality of the TB is just better over all...if you drop it with the case on your good...The Charge is lite as a feather (which I like) but if you drop it, case or not, its a problem. As for for the In the hand feeling...TB wins, I have em both, and the TB feels better in the hand IMO.

However, when u start talking about screens...the convo goes south. Nothing is as good as a Samsung screen IMO,,,NOTHING AT ALL. Yes the TB screen is really nice...but the charge screen is just plain beautiful. And yes the battery is better, not lite years better, but better in every day use.

So which wins....Neither IMO!
Both are good, but are running with last years technology.

Give me a dual core, with Gingerbread 3.0, a sick screen, good battery life, and 4G LTE...
Phones like the one I just described will be available within 2/3 months...And at that point both my Charge and TB will be on eBay waiting to get sold.

You make a good point. I think I'll wait a couple months to see if the Bionic will be more impressive.

I don't know about other TB users but I can unplug at 6am, go from 8am till about 1pm on 1 battery. That's about 3-3 1/2 hours of internet , a few phone calls and a few texts. I have a spare battery, switch out to a new one and I am good till I plug back in at 10pm. I don't see the big deal of no hdmi, i had it on the x and never used it. Besides if I want to see something on my tv I just put the sd card in a adater and into the tv, not a big deal. To each his own, I have had MOTO, HTC, Samsung, LG and they all have good and bad. I had 2 fasinate, stock and rooted still ran the same, laggy. Screen are richer in color, but I don't care for color. I don't care for hardware. If I want to take good pics I use my cannon reble, if I want good video I will use my camcorder. My main use is phone and internet. The HTC TB runs super fast, no lag between screen, volte. I think Samsung and VZW dropped the ball with this phone and now want to sell it for 300, no thanks, its a fasinate with 4G and no software updates for a long time thanks to Samsung. I should know my fascinated only got 1 update and it didn't do much.
