Yeah that's what I meant, you can install your O2 2.1 ROM if you want, but if you need any fastboot related commands, you'll need the kdz+fastboot rom.

What d'you mean it's not possible for you? The fastboot commands wipe all the data on the device, it's more of a compatibility thing to make sure that everything gets wiped and deleted so no conflict occurs.

Your USB storage problem is probably cause by Swapper2, if you don't use it, uninstall it using Titanium Backup. That'll solve the problem.

If i use any of these methods will i be able to restore back to the original state?I'm just asking because i just found out that my battery is a little bit cracked and i'm thinking about sending my phone to lg to see if i can get a replacement(still in warranty)
Btw i have no idea how that happened..I didn't drop my phone or anything.It is still usable, but i'm worried cause a cracked battery can't be a good thing

Ok just saw that i can restore back so scratch that. The battery is still cracked though...

Well since you've rooted and flashed a ROM, you've already voided the warrenty. But going back to the stock 2.1 kdz they'll never know

It's easier to just buy a new battery from the internet, they're pretty cheap: Amazon.co.uk: lg gt540 battery

Hi can someone help me to get the youtube app working on my lg gt540 android 2.3.4, i cant open the app, the icon does not show up in the app screen and i cannot uninstall it or install another youtube app over it.

No, I didn't mean it wasn't possible, I was asking if it was. I had basically misunderstood what I could and could not do with flashing. Anyway, everything you've said regarding this has now clarified it for me.

Yes, tried importing through contacts and it kept saying no vcards found. I eventually put my SD card into my dongle to access it on my computer and exported my contacts to it from LG PC suite in the form of vcards. Still got the error from the phone. I was finally able to import all my contacts from my Titanium backup using adao file manager. Though I did initially get the same error, after reading your response to me I tried again and it finally worked.

Didn't have a clue what APN was, so googled and found the settings for O2. I had assumed that these were automatically sourced by the phone from the SIM card. Anyway, input all those manually and I now have internet access on my phone.

Indeed, it's all pretty much sorted now. So I've gone from thinking it's all a disaster ... throw the phone in the bin ... but maybe stamp on it first, for good measure

- to relief that it's not all disaster and I won't have to buy a new one. ha. Thanks so much for all your input and the impetus your reply gave me to keep trying.

(i) Change 'Type' to '3GQCT' *THIS IS A MUST, THE UPDATE WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE AND YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE*
(ii) Make sure 'PhoneMode' is set to 'DIAG'
(iii) Browse for the 'V20B_00+Fastboot.kdz' file.

Can I put my phone in "Download Mode" and set 'PhoneMode' to 'CS_EMERGENCY' instead?

You can uninstall it using Titanium Backup in the Market. Then reinstall it from the Market

Yepp you can do CS_EMERGENCY if you want, you don't have to take out the SIM, doesn't affect it in any way

Hello

I need some help flashing my GT540

I am running the official Android 2.1 from LG. I have downloaded:

KDZ Updater Europe Open.zip

and followed "Instructions to install ROM with Fastboot:". When the installation was done, my lg.home.proc was constantly crashing. No clue why. It stopped after a few minutes. Then all worked. To be save I did a factory reset.

When I see the LG logo I press and hold the HOME button to enter recovery ("How to install via recovery:") but the screen stays black and I have to remove the battery. When I press and hold power+camera button ("Installing CyanogenMod automatically"), the same happends.

Did I do something wrong? Thanks.

Recovery doesn't come with the phone, you have to install it through fastboot. If you put your phone into fastboot mode (power+camera) then connect it to your PC and run the auto .exe, it'll install CM7 and recovery for you. Then you can boot into recovery

Thank you for your reply. I am one step further now.

When I try to use fastboot I get the follow output:

C:\Android>fastboot.exe -w

C:\Android>fastboot.exe erase system
erasing 'system'... OKAY

C:\Android>fastboot.exe flash system system.img
sending 'system' (148801 KB)... OKAY
writing 'system'... FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))

Please assist what to do next. Thank you!

edit: Whatever I do, I get "FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))"

I pulled the plug, retried and it worked.

Thank you very much for making this available. My Linpack score went thru the roof, from 3,912 to 7,159. Comparing it with Android 1.6, its coming from 2,200.

This means the GT540 more than TRIPPLED in speed.... I'm amazed... :eek:

I tried updating my LG GT540 from official 2.1 to v2.1 w/fastboot (Europe Open) and ended up getting an upgrade error wparam : 100 lparam : 4008 error message.
Compared to the first few times where I tried to upgrade to that rom straight from Donut (where simply removing and putting back the battery was enough) now when I try to start the phone it has me select Android or LG bootup, and no matter the option it goes to the home screen but error messages ("process such and such could not complete") pop up and nothing can actually run. What should I do now?

Try putting the phone in emergency mode by holding the vol down button and powering on the phone. 'Emergency Mode' will be displayed on the screen. Then change the 'PhoneMod' in KDZ flasher to 'CS_EMERGENCY' and the other to 3GQCT. Then try flashing.
