Root Who has already rooted their DX2?

I rooted and deleted some apps.
Just the ones on my app list that I would never use, like the social media stuff, blockbuster, amazon mp3, the IM app, and stuff like that.
So far no issues with deleting VS freezing.
I have run StabilityTest v1.5 for over an hour and a half without any issues so I'm not worried about deleting VS freezing for the ones I got rid of.

Pardon the ignorance but, what is the difference between gingerbreak and gingerbread?

GINGERBREAD is an updated version or firmware of the Android operating system. Kinda like the different versions of Windows (95, ME, XP, VISTA, 7)

GINGERBREAK is an exploit method/application that will give you root access, allowing you to change/alter some of the properties of the firmware, making it more customizeable for the user.

Is it necessary to backup your sd card? Ive never lost anything on the sd card from rooting, sbfing or doing a factory reset. Also whats with the APN settings? Do you need to reactivate the phone after getting root or write down some settings anf reinstall after? Sorry for the questions, but I figured its better to ask now than be stuck with a brick and no SBF.

Rooted and surprised of three things:

1. Wifi tether actually is faster with data than the Incredible. I figured the bottleneck was the actual 3G connection, but this is faster. 3G is still an obvious bottleneck, but seems the Incredible added another.

2. Wifi tether normally runs very warm, but the DX2 is cooler than the Inc.

3. More stable connection. The Incredible would lose connection a few times during a session, but not seeming so yet with the DX2.

Did rooting fix any of the problems you'd been having with the dx2 so far?

No, but minimizing Flash use fixed most lag and all heat issues. The Incredible does not get over 110 degrees running Flash and the Netlix & Youtube apps do not either. Flash appears to NOT like the DX2, but since the gTablet works fine with Flash 10.3 and also is Froyo, seems a DX2 firmware issue.

Another thing before im convinced...what are the advantages of rooting it? I know downloading third party apps and what not....im a newb lol dont mind me :p

Rooting allows you to use apps like Titanium Backup, this will back up your app and user data. It also allows access to your System files through apps like Root Explorer, so you can rename/delete system files (remove bloat).

Lastly, not sure if Clockwork Mod Recovery is available for the DX2 yet, but if it is, then a full backup and recovery is possible.
