Wassup my fellow Droid gamers,
I just thought it would be a disservice if I didn't make a post about this game. The Symphony of Eternity is an rpg that I had been watching on Market for a while but was in Japanese only but they promised an English translation. After waiting four months an English translation of the game came as promised and developer wrote me letting me know. Well I still didn't know much about the game so when I saw US~9.98 on market I decided that was a little to steep for an rpg I didn't know much about. Well today 05/12/11 @3am central I said what the heck I can atleast try the game for 14 mins. I was very surprised when I got to Google checkout that the game was only $2.99 that not even close to the market advertised price but anyway I'm happy and no longer worried about rushing because of a refund.
When I finally played the game I instantly noticed very high production values. The 2d graphics, artwork, sprite animations, UI, heck even the writing was well done guess the long wait paid off. This game is the exact equivalent to Android's 2d Final Fantasy. The game has a well written story so far, witty likable characters (love the ancient Golem party member who's always portraying his understanding of human needs and emotion when he really shouldn't be), turn based battles with superb animations, limit breaks, skills, even dancing sprites upon battle victory. The game also has a huge 2d world map with many continents, towns, dungeons etc which you expect from say a FF. Everything just flows right in this game from the menu UI to battle system UI. For example when I wanted to cast a healing spell on a character I thought hey it would be easier to just touch the character portrait instead of the little sprite and sure enough it worked like a charm. Attention to detail like that is what makes a good game good.
Bottomline: This is the closest to a 2D turn based Final Fantasy game your going to get on Android or iPhone with out being an actual Final Fantasy game its just that well made. If Square themselves had put their name on the title I wouldn't have been surprised. So if you want excellent 2d turn based rpg on your android device definitely check out this game. It's a steal at the price it is $2.99 at checkout and the developers obviously put a lot of work into it so support and enjoy!
