Help Offical Moment Update

Just finished calling 5 repair centers around Raleigh NC.
1 "didn't have the proper machine" but said that in a few days I would be able to upgrade over the network.
1 was bullshitting me saying they were "missing the cable that they needed, and they were going to order it"
1 claimed to not have the software at all
1 had been attempting to make the upgrade to the floor model all day with no success
and the last one merely said that they would have the capability on Monday... but to make sure that I called first?

Wow... When the update didn't come, all I heard was a resounding "it's not Sprint's fault! it's Samsung's responsibility to get it to work!" and rightfully so... but now Sprint can share the blame.

Anyone else have a story to share?

Did you eventually find a place in the Raleigh area to get the update? I'm in Durham and haven't located a place that gives me any reason to trust them with my phone. I'd go to Raleigh if I knew of a place that has actually successfully installed this update.

When I made the calls on Friday, only one store really seemed to care about learning what was going on. I called them back today and they told me that they are not going to update any Moments until they have Sprint call them back and walk them through an update over the phone. I also asked if they knew of anyone else in the area that could do it.... They do not.:(

In the mean time I am running Zefie's stuff, and will continue to do so until there is an option that does not require wiping my phone.

Well, I'm going into my Sprint repair center today in tally, with the information on the update, and how to do it in-hand. If they still say 'We don't have the upgrade yet.' I'm going to just kind of stand there with a dumbfounded look on my face and ask how can that be if it's in the computer. Then continue to b#$ch at them until they get so tired of me that they pull it up and just do it. When they do that, I'll go and get my father's Moment, and bring that in too.
His is having just straight booty battery life ATM. He gets maybe 6 hours of life w/o use or w/ use. I've turned everything off, making sure nothing is running, and have seen it myself. I'm lead to believe it's his battery, as I'm getting around 22hrs off of mine w/o use and with everything he has installed on it, then about 18 with mild-heavy use. (Involving: e-mail composition, text messaging, e-mail sending, all whilst streaming with last.fm or slacker, all that fun stuff)
Will post on how long it takes to crack the r-***** at the store, that or how long it takes before they lie to me to get me out of the store.

I think it's kinda funny how I plan on being 'that guy' for the day. This should be fun.

yes...one must def. flash back to cj05. i took my phone in with zefies 9.2 kernal and they told me that since my phone was "hacked" there was nothing they could do. I was told I was stuck...so i then asked, "you just can reflash using the original software IE. cj05." they said no they cant....soooo I told em i'd be back after I re-flashed back to the org. and after i get off work in an hour i'm heading back to the store...

sad thing is I'm employed by sprint at the head quarters and the store I went to is the Store located @ the actual sprint world head quarters campus...sigh maybe i should notify them of this site...

There are three Sprint Repair stores in the North Bay Area (north of San Francisco) - in San Rafael, Petaluma and Vallejo. All three had no information on this update  as of January 18, until I provided them with links.

i went to the one in san leandro. Marina Square. You have to demand it. Some of the techs are too lazy or just plainly dont know how to look for it.

If they dont know what your talking about just have them get on the sprint.com site and have them copy the update details and have them comb through their systems or just call *2 on your phone and have them tell the staff how to find it.

Im starting to hate Sprint. it shouldnt be this hard..Im loyal and all but geez..

Alright, so yesterday I was running Zeifie 8.2 and I reflashed back to cj05. Took my phone into my sprint store and they had it done in about 30 min. Things I noticed that i didn't see here.

1. Under "Update" there a new option, "Update Android". Unfortunantly, clicking it says we're up to date. D:

2. Internal memory is now down to 199MB straight out of the store.

3. Battery life = way better. I went into the store at 50% and came out at full battery.

4. On screen keyboard is less laggy, but it's not perfect. And also with onscreen the spellcheck bar is now black.

If I find anything else I'll let you guys know.

Schwamy, are you saying battery life is way better than it was even with zefie's 8.2?

Just called my store and first time I called some dumb broad said to go to retail store so I am lik hang up call again (hooping to get another person. I did) this time it was a guy so I tell him hey I am calling regarding the software update for the samsung moment and first thing he tells me is "oh I don't even have it yet sprint hasn't pushed it to me yet" and then I told him well I called all the other places arround me and they told me you guys hd it and you guys are the only place near me and then he says " let me check" so after being on hold for like 10 minutes he says can I get your number and call you back so I did. 2 minutes later and he says you were looking for cl14 and I said yes. So no I am headding there in a few but the whole thing about this is that sprint should of sent out a mass email to all repair centers telling them we had an update and not making me tell him and force him to look but yeah so good luck to everybody else out there member try to make them look everybody should have them. Oh and what are the steps before going should I restore to stock settings cause I think I read a post of a guy saying they have to restore to stock setting for it to work?

I took my phone in Friday afternoon, the first day of software release. The tech told me that it would take about an hour. i waited 2 hours before calling to check on it & was informed that they were running into some issues. They said that it had taken them over 45 minutes just to get it backed up. I don't know what that meant, since the phone would be wiped anyway. They finally called me back about an hour later and said that they could not get the update to work because the software from Sprint was bad. He said that I could come pick it up & that he would give me a call on Monday(today) shen the software was available. This morning, I took it in to the Apple Valley,MN store where I had read on this thread that they could do the upgrade. It took them less than 30 minutes to complete the upgrade. I still have not heard from the first store (Lakeville,MN). My only concern is that after spending about 4 hours restoring everything & making sureeverything works, is this what we will have to go through when the new Android 2.1 is available. I can upgrade the operating system on my PC and not have to re-install everything.

2 for 2 now. Went back to the Dayton Mall store with the wife's Moment. This time I used rerware MyBackup to backup apps, data, and settings (except contacts which are synced to google). Once again, 20 minutes after arriving I was on my way out with an updated phone. Getting her phone back to its original condition was a snap with MyBackup.

I realize a lot of people have had far different experiences than I, but I'd say this is more of a reflection on the store and their personnel than on Sprint in general. The information is out there if the techs take the time to understand it and apply it.

I'm anxious now to see what Android 2.1 will bring, but I've gone from happy with a very nice phone, to absolutely thrilled with it.
