They need to qualify the Gingerbread/Gingerblur update w/the DX2 HW, and have limited resources and many priorities (other phones they are trying to launch), so the DX2 has a slot in line and has to wait its turn... :)

Hopefully soon...if anything like on my D2, GB should improve performance and add some nice features to my wife's DX2.

What I don't understand is that according to this article and video the new features that they covered are already cooked in to the DX2 so I don't know what exactly would be "new" for us?

I think it's probably just going to be usability. There are several problems with the X2 on 2.2, and it's suggested that merging to GB will correct these problem, but who knows.

I hate to say this, but don't hold your breath. Motorola is notorious for not updating their devices or not doing it in a timely manner.

The Droid X which just got GB, the Droid 2 has not. Many other devices were left by them on 1.6 or 2.1 and just forgotten. Look at the CLIQ. The CLIQ got 2.1 when 2.2 had already been out for months and that was after many months of waiting to go from 1.6.

If your looking for updates, don't buy Motorola. The only reason the OG Droid got 2.1 then 2.2 and soon 2.3 is because it was a Google device running stock Android. If it has Blur, enjoy the wait.

the DX2 has the same blur version now as the DX1 so really moving the DX2 to GB isn't going to look much different. It will probably have some behind the scene changes and fixes though. But i wouldn't get in a hurry. ......

Yeah, According to a leak out of Verizon, according to Droid Life, the Droid 3 is shipping with FroYo. I have to say I am actually surprised the X ended up getting FroYo.
