Google Nexus One Android phone in Canada?

One more day until we get more details about Nexus One and how one can obtain it. If Google makes it available for Canadians to buy it directly from them (Google), I am down for that. If on the other hand they sell it through Rogers, I am not going to jump on that. Why you ask?

1) Rogers has not so proven a track record in serving their customers
2) Don't want to deal with Rogers, period!
3) See #1

Cheers! :)

So i have read some of the replys to this thread and i still have't seen a clear answer does anyone know if an unlocked Nexus will work in canada, more to the point how about work in Atlantic Canada?

It will work with all canadian providers as a phone, for data however only with WIND will you be able to get 3G, all other providers you will only be able to get EDGE speeds (2G).

GBD is accurate in his statement that it will only work with WIND for 3G. Also keep in mind that WIND is a new carrier, so they don't have full coverage yet, but soon enough they will, I am sure about that at which point it will work across Canada or whatever areas WIND covers.

So looking at the coverage map that Rogers has on their web site , it shows Rogers Mobile Internet (HSPA and EDGE) 3.5G Mobile Internet (HSPA) coverage in most big Cities in the Atlantic Provences. What Band range does Wind Have that Rogers doesn't?

Yes the web site is www.mobilewhack.com/nexus-one-coming-to-verizon-rogers-in-spring-2010/

May be some hope for us canadians eh. (sorry had to ad that just to hard to resist.)

That article states that the nexus one is coming to Verizon and Rogers but not AT&T. The author has a mistaken belief that Verizon and Rogers operate the same networks but this is incorrect. It is Rogers and AT&T that are the same.

It was confirmed that Verizon will be getting a Nexus one sometime this year but that will be a CDMA device not GSM as used on the Rogers Network.

Sorry to disappoint.

no doubt there will be more google phones and versions even for us frozen beavers. I never understood the statement "xxxx phone is coming to provider yyyy". That should no longer apply with easy to buy unlocked phones, we only want to know if it works on provider yyy, not if they officially sell it. No more Rogers "customized" ROMs and locked down phones for me....

Hi,
I am a customer with rogers and my contract is about to expire on November. I was thinking of getting a new Android phone, Nexus looks awesome...... but we cant get that in here and doesn't look like roger is going to get it.

Do you think if I buy it from ebay it would still work? Will I be missing any kind of special stuff that works only on US but not here?

I was thinking of getting X10, has almost the same features. And I am using Xperia (which is an awesome phone), so I thought I will just move to X10 if I can't get Nexus. Roger is going to get X10 somewhere in july.

So is it worth trying to get Nexus or X10 is enough?
