hi guys u, i m having a wierd problem, i cant see the ext3 partition in gparted which i made in recovery 2.5.1.8, i can see ext4. i have 8gb sd card, and made 128mb ext3 through recovery, now i cant see that 128mb ext3 partition on gparted, after that i made 1gb ext4 on gparted and rest is fat32, with 128mb ext3 still on sd card which i cant see on gparted. now when i copy any zip file on sd card from pc , i cant see that on sd card when i want to install through recovery, dont know whats happening, please guide me thanx

Seems to me it is best to start over with Gparted:
1st make a primary FAT32 partition. After that make a primary ext3 partition.
Why do you need to make also ext4 partition? If ext3 is not good enough (which I think is the most compatible one), you can simply convert it to ext4.

thanks for the reply guys, well i started over gparted and made just one ext3 partition on the whole this time just to check how it goes, and in that ext3 partition i cud see the 216 mb used space which i didnt used, that must been the space that i made on recovery ext3 partition, then i del the whole partition again, and cud see the whole 8gb sd card as available space, but when i try to make fat32 , as whole partition., that goes whole space minus 128mb that i made in recovery, is that a fault in recovery that i cant see the ext3 partition that i make through recovery or m i missing something?

well i want to use ext4 because m using rcmix 1.8 rom and want to use data2sd script , ext3 didnt work with that but ext4 does work , so thats y i want to make ext4, hope i have explained clearly everything :)

how can i convert ext3 to ext4 mate,? i cant find the option to do that in recovery

When you say whole space -128MB, can you see the empty space in Gparted? I'm not sure how you can tell its -128MB if you cant see it. Please could you elaborate a little bit?

last night i made 1gb ext3 through recovery, now when i start gparted and connect fone and mount usb storage, i can only see the 6.43gb which is fat32 as unpartitioned space,, i cant see the 1gb ext3. in simple words, u cud say i cant see the ext3 partition that i made using recovery, when i create ext3 in gparted then i can see that in gparted but the ext3 that i created in recovery, gparted still doesnt see,, thats y i asked how can i convert ext3 to ext4 in recovery, i cant find that option, m confused and stuck, dont know what to do:thinking:

I am familiar with the alpharev version of clockworkmod and its not that great.

I would recommend downloading 2.5.0.7 from the downloads thread in my signature and set up your Windows PC to use Fastboot and fastboot flash the recovery.

Have a look in the red link in my signature as there is an adb and fastboot faw there for tyou to use.

Hope this helps.

Yeah sure. How far did you get?

Have you downloaded the SDK and added it to your environment variables as per the FAQ?

thanks mate, am getting error on command line while fone is in fastboot usb,

C:\>fastboot flash recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7 c:\recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7.img
sending 'recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7' (4216 KB)... OKAY [ 0.621s]
writing 'recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7'... FAILED (remote: partition does not exist!)
finished. total time: 0.629s

C:\>

what should i do now

fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7.img

But thats a good point, I'll modify the FAQ to clarify that.

No worries dude.

Click the link to open the goldcard generator, copy the CID from the tool into it. You will get an email.
Enable USB Mass Storage on your phone.
Click 'Refresh' in the app and select your micro SD card.
Click 'Load goldcard.img' and select the file you received by email.
Click 'Patch MMC'
You now have a goldcard!

''Enable USB Mass Storage'' on phone, u mean ''mount as disk drive'' that we get with the charge only option ?i

only the fat32 partition has been formatted, not the ext4 partition, so is good to go to create a goldcard like that?

done, thanx
