Sprint is working on EVO 4G and Sprints homebrewed NFC program. This could hold up OTA Gingerbread scheduled June 9th. EVO 4G and EVO 3D will be supporting NFC via Micro SD card. May require purchase of Micro SD card but software will be there to support it. Expect official annoucements on EVO 4G and EVO 3D late night June 3rd. Sprint is showing a united front in supporting both devices. The hope is it will result in a boost for share holder confidence and share price as well.
Expect to hear more on Gingerbread for EVO 4G very soon. Expect to hear about exciting changes coming to EVO 3D as well.

Just hear about changes to the EVO 3D on June 3? So, I guess they're not looking to release the phone on that weekend and they're pushing the release back to make changes?

sorry, I should have clarified. Just updates that were implemented last month. resulting in some added features for EVO 3D. Official release date will be at the discretion of Sprint. Expect more information to be released before June 3rd about EVO 4G and EVO 3D.

Okay. Either way, I'm definitely waiting until all the new devices are released before making my decision.

If my EVO w/ Gingerbread happens to start performing better, then I might even wait another year.

Don't let HTC hear you say that, or they might delay the Evo 4G Gingerbread release even further

No problem by me. Still love the EVO even without Gingerbread.

Thing is, if all the rumors live up to what Sprint and Motorola announces on June 9, I'll already have both feet out the door to upgrade. It'll just be a matter of how much and when the Photon 4g is released at that point.

All this said, who knows if any of the rumors or announcements being made will come anywhere close to what is going to be revealed. It could be a complete letdown and I'll be back to considering the EVO 3D...lol.

It's showing the Photon would only have 1028 mb of phone ram? Doesn't Sense 3.0 taking up like 600 mb alone? Why do these new phones have such small internal memory?

RAM is memory used by the page file systems and processes but not storage. The Storage portion would be the ROM, which if it is like the Atrix, should have 16 gigs of internal storage

And to add to sikclown's information, Sense is a HTC UI, not a Motorola, so the 600mb for Sense is not something to be concerned about when it comes to the Photon.

my prediction is looking to be on point. ive been saying for months that we should expect an update to gingerbread sometime in june to early july (latest) and i also think it will be bundled with some newer version of sense. whether that be sense 2.0 or a watered down version of sense 3.0 i dont know but it will be something

How come I have this feeling that 2.3 is going to make the evo sluggish and not worth the upgrade?

2.1 was supposed to make everything snappier on the Hero but it did the exact opposite (rendered it barely usable). Just thinking out loud here.

I really hope this doesn't happen... My wife's hero sucked after the 2.1 update. The 2.2 update on the evo had its own hiccups. Iirc, there were audio issues with pandora and google maps navigation
