You can do it using iTunes
Load all of the files you want to convert into iTunes, select them all, and then right click and go to "Create AAC version" - this will create a copy of the files in the AAC format.
thanks. i'm aware of the AAC conversion using iTunes. i just choose to do MP3's and use other software for converting purposes. i use iTunes strictly for organization and syncing to my iPod.
the software i use is called Total Audio Converter. if you do a search on google, you can find a few links for a free download. i torrented a paid version so i can't comment on what features are missing from the free version.
this program can covert
from the following:
(*.wma,*.mp3,*.wav,*.ogg,*.cda,*.mpc,*.flac,*.mpp,*.mp+,*.ape,
*.aac,*.mp4,*.m4a,*.ofr,*.spx,*.tta,*.wv,*.ac3,*.au,*.snd,*.aif,
*.aiff,*.aifc,*.iff,*.svx,*.aud,*.vox,*.xm,*.it,*.s3m,*.mod,*.mtm,
*.umx,*.mo3,*.mid,*.amr,*.voc,*.pvf,*.sds,*.sd2,*.xi,*.w64,*.mat,
*.mat4,*.mat5,*.sf,*.ircam,*.nist,*.fap,*.paf,*.caf,*.ra,*.rmm,*.ram,
*.rax,*.rpm,*.rm,*.rmvb,*.aa,*.rmj)
to the following:
wav, mp3, wma, ogg, mpc, aac, mp4, flac, ape
you can not only do mass files, but also mass folders
