hey guys,

I am trying to SBF my GB .588 and it seems my phone is not rooted (I am not able to use tethering app). I connected my phone to RSD lite. It recognizes my phone but it says "Chipset 43 is not supported". I am using RSD lite version 4.8. When I start running the .sbf file, it fails.

Does anyone know what is going and can help me with this issue? I really wanna update my Dx to .596.

thanks in advance ! :)

I tried installing RSD lite 4.9 (though on the window it says v4.8. i dont know why :( ). With v4.8 it does not recognize my device, but it does with v4.5 (though it fails to flash my device). I also installed current drives from the site mentioned above (motorola). I am running them on windows 7 64 bit.
May be i will try it on window XP and see if it makes any difference !

Thanks

These instructions were written for ME- but you seem to need them, lol.
For the motorola usb drivers- go to control panel on your computer, then system, and check if you're running 32 or 64 bit ok?
then fire it all up!

- boot into stock recovery
- with phone off hold down home button and press the power button to turn phone on...you will see a triangle with an "!" in it and the Android guy...press the search key (magnifying glass)...you're then going to do a data wipe/factory reset...

- Then you're going to go to this site on your computer Droid X SBF

- On the right you're going to see where it says RSD Lite 4.9...you're going to download and install this program...this is the program that Motorola uses to flash and install Android on our phones...

- then below that you're going to download the proper USB drivers

- Then on the right you're going to download the file under where it says "Current SBF File" (if that download goes really slow go HERE and download the bottom file...

what you are now going to have on your computer is the complete Operating System for your Droid X...and the program RSD Lite is going to wipe your phone (not your SDcard, just the phone) COMPLETELY CLEAN...and reinstall Android completely fresh...your phone will literally be in the same state as when it left the factory...

we will talk about the instructions for actually using RSDLite to do the flash if you decide to take my advice and do things this way...

im honestly not going to respond to your other post...simply because the other stuff you asked should be tackled AFTER making sure your phone has a correctly functioning stock operating system...

all of the things that you have told us you want your phone to do (run smoother, look better, screen previews, use less battery, etc) can be accomplished on stock 2.2.1 Froyo (with the help of a third party launcher) so i would like to take you that route...and once we have your phone running right...then we can talk about ROMS and Themes..

I was rooted on original 2.1 then lost root after first update. I did not try to root again. I did the GB update last night and now I cant get it off the M logo to do anything!! The power and home button does nothing for me, just makes the screen black then the M comes back. I have done about 30 battery pulls, let it sit overnight, and tried plugging it into the computer after getting the latest motorola drivers. This is driving me crazy. Any help would be appretiated.

Have you booted into recovery and done a factory reset?

After you pull battery (and put it back) hold down the power button and Home button at the same time this will boot into recovery, little droid dude with yellow triangle. Press search button then toggle to factory reset and give it a try.

If you're stuck at the M logo then the only option is to SBF.
