Root How do you unroot from the unrevoked method?

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html

Go to the "After Rooting" section. There are 2 files you need to dl'ed. The s-on tool and the ruu for your hboot. You could go with the ruu for hboot 2.10 as you plan to upgrade anyway. Follow the instructions and it will get you unrooted. It will wipe your phone.

Thanks. Is there no way to unroot WITHOUT wiping my phone? I thought it might be possible to avoid that but I don't know.

The only other thing you could try would be to flash the s-on tool then instead of the ruu, flashing the stock recovery for that hboot. I am not sure that it would work but if it does, you should be able to accept the update.

Ok, I've actually flashed the s-on tool and then it said to flash the PC36IMG but when it goes to hboot, it tries loading that file and says it's old. Do you know where I can get the stock recovery??

This is a new pc and I haven't found all of my links yet. What hboot version did you try and flash? Should be the one for hboot 2.10

Which one would I flash, odexed or deodexed? And doing this will wipe my phone, correct?

it may..it may not.

do the odexed

reboot into recovery
create nandroid, wipe dalvik, wipe cache, flash rom

that "should" retain everything but refer to that thread for anything beyond what I posted.

I have no reason to flash this. All I needed were the radios and kernel

sounds like it got through updating your hboot but failed at the rom due to custom recovery. You can try and go here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html and get the newest stock recovery pc36img file and try that then try accepting the ota again. Not sure it will work but might be worth a shot.

By newest, you mean by date? If you could help me confirm, is the newest "PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip with the date 2/9/2011??" Thanks

The newest stock recovery would be 3.70. I am not sure that custom recovery will do anything here as you have s-on. With the stock recovery, you might be able to accept the OTA and have it finish installing. Does your phone still boot normally right now?

You mean, when I turn my phone off then turn it back on it has the HTC splash screen, then the Sprint 4G and then my background? Yes, that's what happens.

if your phone still boot normally and is useable, you may want to leave it as is for the time being. As soon as they get the new hboot rooted, then it will be easier to fix whats wrong with your phone now.
