Root What have you done with your rooted Charge?

The title says what am I getting at, but I do have some specific questions. Have you flashed a custom ROM yet? Where are these custom ROMs? Have you been able to change the file system? If you have, have you noticed benefits?

I'd really like to get the Charge, but the file system has prevented me from doing so. Played with it (and other phones) again today at VZW, and was not impressed with it's score from speedtest.net app and I don't even need to mention Quadrant.

Well honestly i myself havent installed roms yet but i am rooted and trust me the charge is worth it. Yes the scores suck but the performance is amazing..touchwiz sucks but if you install LPP+ you wont even notice touchwiz and if you root you can freeze touchwiz anyway. Ive read on XDA FORUMS that there is already a rom called something beast not sure of the name and a kernel called voodoo..people on there have flashed these and have reported 1500 scores on benchmark...thats what i know for now if you dont believe me go to xdaforums.com and look under the VERIZON CHARGE forum...

I got my Charge three weeks ago today. Coming from the original Incredible I was not really sure I would like it. At first I was not at all happy with the TouchWiz UI. Ran it stock for the first week and really was not impressed. Decided to root for free hotspot and then installed Voodoo Lagfix Kernel. Stock quad scores were around 500. After root and custom kernel I just got a quad score of 1364! The Lagfix kernel took care of all the issues I had with TouchWiz (along with app SPD 3D Shell). Overall I am very satisfied with the Charge now. Looking forward to 4g service which is why I originally got the Charge. Wish HTC made a 4g Incredible though.

i'm running altered beast on my dc. love it. go to vzw and install adw launcher on their charge and play with it to get an idea of how good it really is. running the new rom via odin is cake, its ridiculously stable for a new rom. also, when you try adw on their phone, check the "always use adw" box if you wanna **** with the dickheads at vzw

pssst... *tapping on shoulder* HTC does makea 4g phone-the thunderbolt. FYI :)

He said a 4G Incredible, and I totally agree, if HTC had put out another phone like the Incredible(amoled screen) then I'd have a 4G Incredible, lol, HTC is much more user friendly than Samsung, but with that said I LOVE my DC, rooted, gummy charged with pbj kernel!

"Verizon Droid Charge - xda-developers" is a good place to start. The "Droid Charge Android Development" section is where you can find all the themes and rooting options. It's probably going to be COMPLETELY overwhelming at first. Stick with it and you'll catch on before you know.

Yes, rooting for Android is the equivalent of Jailbreaking on iPhone.

The community on these forums are such an incredible resource! If you look at my history you'll see how I bricked my phone (Charge) over the weekend and with the help of people here I was not only able to get it back working again but apply Gingerbread and GummyCharge with root access.

Good luck with the modding!

Running the gummycharge 1.9.1, I downloaded the full package and couldnt be happier. Setcpu set to conservitive and I still get quadrants of 1700. Performance and Im in the 2100's. No idea on battery life yet due to just rooting yesterday and applying the battery calibration app today. Althought I can say this, I took the charge off the charger around 1100 and have been intentionally trying to drain the battering, its 1700 and it just died... :)
