[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

i tried that already, in cmr it will not let me do a back up or restore, at back up it goes until the very end until it says formattign cache then sits there for ever. if i try to flash cm7 again as i still have the cm7 zips save don sd card i cant get past wipe data factory reset. it says wiping data, formatting data, wiping cache formatting cache then thats as far as it goes. for some reason the cache is holding something up. id love to just be able to somehow get cm7 back on my phone. i havent tried installing it though rom manager yet but i figure it would be the same issues. then once i try to flash doing the data reset i have to flash the phone back to stock 2.1 as per the guide here and no matter what i cannot get cmr to get through a back up or a flash. im totally stumped

its finally out everybody.... is been out for a few days but no one noticed because you dont update it the same way you would with other androids by going into setings >about phone>check for update. its kind of funny the way they did it......heres the link: Huawei Ascend Android 2.2 Upgrade

ID BE CAREFUL DOING IT. i did that yesterday and it has done something to my phone. i cannot go into cmr to make a back up or restore anymore. freeses during restroing of cache and backing up of cache. so i cannot flash back to any of the roms from my sd card. so im stuck on 2.2. i want cm7 back

im not a fan of not being able to unlock phone with the screen only i liked being bale to hit menu button to unlock. . i duno what do anymore

Hello. first of all, welcome to the forum. I'm glad you are so enthusiastic about the update, but if you would have looked around the forum at all, you would realize that we all know about it already. Actually, it has been rooted, tweaked, and bloatware removed already. Not to be rude, but please don't make multiple posts/threads about the same subject.

you have to reinstall cwm again once you revert back to stock and flash the new 2.2 also...

just leet it do its things, it might freeze for a sec but it will finish backing up, it normally takes about 5 minutes or so just be patient.

Hi, I just used gingerbreak 1.2 to root. Everything seemed to go fine, it rebooted and su installed. However, when I went to install titanium bu I got an error saying root failed. What should I do? :thinking:

hit the problem button and let it install busybox and once finish open titu back up and you are good to go.

nuttmeg, i let it sit about 10-5 minutes at that one spot and it did nothing. same thing if I go into 2.1.5.8 and try to flash a rom I hit data wipe factory rest and I get wiping data wiping cache format data format cache and it goes no further

If you haven't already,please try to update to the most current CWM RECOVERY: 3.0.0.5,which is strongly suggested by the CM7 ASCEND developer,ISAACJ87.
Whether via ROM MANAGER,apk,zip,etc.......

I may be missing something,but,you seem hesitant to try this,which has been suggested by more than a couple people here.Again,if I'm missing something here,I stand corrected.

ive been on 2.1.5.8 forever now, i even put on 3.0 from the rom manager and i tried to make a back up and its been sitting at back up cache for 25 minutes now. theres got to be a reason why the cahce holds it up. id just love to know why

are you trying to backup stock rom? if so dont worry about stock rom as we have them just in case you need it. But you should install 3.0.0.5 using the fastboot method with the file i send you... :cool:

i was trygin to back up the stock rom just to see if i could get through a back up without it pausing on backing up cache thats all, and i still couldnt. i upgraded my cmw from 2.1.5.8 to the one that rom manager makes you flash for the ascend. is that the same one you want me to updrage to or do you want me to install in teh fast boot way. im just hoping somethign works. i really want cm7 back

but what i would suggest download this and extracted to computer and keep it in a safe place if you ever need it MetroStockRecovery-SCRIPTS.zip and just download cm7gapps and boot into cwm and wipe everything and format boot, system, data, cache and flash both file, and if you with metro dont forget to flash metro off v1.3... :cool:

honestly nuttmeg i tired that process yesterday, everythign except the cmr 3.0. i did it with the old 2.1.5.8 that i flashed every rom with already. thats when i realized there was a problem somehwere because i could not get past the factory reset and data wipe. as soon as it wipes cache and tries to format it it stops and goes no further. thats why i belive somehow im stuck on either 2.1 or 2.2

WHY are you insisting on using CWM RECOVERY 2.5.1.8 instead of 3.0.0.5

You ask for a solution,one is given & yet you insist on doing things your way,which keeps resulting in problems. What do you want?
