i think i wont touch no roms until 2.3.4. lol :(

Not long to wait, then. Samsung have just delivered a brand new Samsung Galaxy S II to CyanogenMod developer AtinM. Seriously..... full story here. It's also been confirmed via Twitter by @atinm himself. :D

I think I've just decided on my next handset.... sorry HTC but I've been waiting long enough!

what is so good about CyanogenMod roms

It's more what's good for the users. By doing this Samsung have basically embraced the developer community and thrown down a challenge to other manufacturers. It's also virtually assured the SGSII of a long life - the two year-old HTC Hero received Gingerbread (Android 2.3) before any current HTC handset courtesy of CM developers.

Agreed! I was very surprised they are supporting CM.

I can't imagine how fast this phone would be with stock android and CM tweaks /drools

yah from what i've read, VillianROM is the best out of them all. i'll wait until it either gets updated again and SMS themes are back, or if it takes too long then i'm gonna instal Virtual Box Linux on my machine because i need to get started over at the xda before i get left behind haha.

apparently there's a way to create ROMs on Win machines now but i haven't had a chance to test just yet. prob this weekend i'll get to it

Although still not that confident !
Just checking that is it ok to install Villian straight over lite'ning using Odin. Just would like to try different rom's before deciding on the one to use as my main one. Also the instructions for Villian look a little more complicated or will it be as easy as installing Lite'ning ?
Thanks

If you rooted using CF Root then it will have installed the CWM app for you.
I've only tried Villain rom and I am impressed so far, its virtually the same as stock firmware but with less battery drain.
To wipe and install the rom reboot into recovery (done in the CWM app) select wipe data/factory reset then yes. Once wiped go back to the main menu in recovery and select install zip from sdcard then choose zip, find where you put the villain rom zip and install. Once installed go to reboot system and then your done.

Hi..
Thanks for the replies in relation to this but being a novice I still have a couple of questions !
I found the CWM app but I am not sure where the wipe data/factory reset is....or is it the Clockworkmod shown in recovery ?
Do I just drag the Villian rom onto the external drive indicator on the PC ?
Sorry for the questions.......be being a thicky . :eek::thinking:

First transfer the rom zip file onto you phones memory somewhere. Next go into cwm app. The second option down is reboot into recovery... your phone should reboot and go into something called clockworkmod recovery (should be a black background with orange writing). You navigate through the menus using the volume key, select using the home key and back is the back key.
