Motorola XPRT

Im considering picking one up soon as well. How has the battery life been? Also, the screen quality?

I grabbed mine at the Bradenton Sprint store yesterday and have been doing a lot of set up and transferring (God bless Appbrain!) apps. After a full night's charge and using HotSpot for an hour this morning while I was getting my car serviced, BlueTooth and a couple of calls I was still at 94% - I'll take that over my EVO!!

I had some issues transferring my old 16gb SD card - it kept freezing up on me. So, I deleted the stuff there and copied over the stuff on the stock 2gb card. It works great now!!

Ok, had this bad boy for a few days already and I'm extremely happy with it. NOW i have a few question for those who are in the know of this device or the Pro version. one of the stock icons i have here is a task manager is that the same as a task killer? and if not should i get a task killer or a different version of it? also in the home screen i have 5 pages but 3 pages are showing. a systems page where it shows wifi connect gps and airplane mode, and the other screen shows messages and calender. my question is i have 2 addition pages that are empty can i remove those pages or can i move those icons so i have less home pages to flip over?

I don't think you need a task killer with this phone - the battery has been EXPERIENTIALLY better than my EVO! Give it some time and see. As for moving the icons... oh, yes - move them to whichever screen works best for you. I've moved almost all of mine so that those that I use most frequently are on the screens closest to my home screen. Explore and you can even just ADD them - I think they are Motorola widgets, not Android. Have fun!

You got me on that one! I've got ONE contact that has disappeared from my phone - sort of: all of his info went into another similar name! I had to delete him rename him to get him back into the phone. I thought that weird, too! Good luck!

This phone is truly a blackberry killer and with an unlimited Sprint plan it's a win win situation for me. I was carrying both an HTC Hero and a BB Bold for work. Now I only need to carry one phone. The battery has been exceptional. The keyboard is really practical and easy to use. The phone is snappy for only having a single core. It's been my best experience on Android for the needs I have (massive texting, gmail, ms exchange, IM, web) and occasional youtube and pandora, google maps, navigation. I was considering leaving Sprint for Verizon and getting this guy and I almost settled for a Samsung Replenish(Good God!). 3G/CDMA Signal strength is definitely superior to my Hero and Bold, as well as call quality. The only draw back so far is Motoblur, but it's proven to be less obtrusive than I thought. So far I'm very satisfied. I picked this up on its release day. I'm looking forward to my next trip overseas with this phone. I wonder if the SIM is unlocked for use with local SIM cards...

i know i have asked this question before, the XPRT comes with a task manager, in it it has a auto end feature. my question is has any one used or played with the task manager, i have heard of task killers so i am assuming its the same thing. is it worth just using the stock version how do u guys have it set up i have everything selected to the auto end feature, but im not sure if it works. should i still get a task killer/manager from the market anyways? would it be better to get one from the market if so anyone have suggestions which one? i appreciate it..

From my readings you don't need a task killer. I think its more of a preference. Yes I believe its the same thing task killer and task manager. I had the optimus s before the xprt and did not nor need a task killer/manager. I think I am gonna leave it be and see how it goes. Hope that helps... Maybe a more experienced android user can help you.

I use the auto end feature, and it works great! It just turns those selected apps off after 2 minutes of idle time. My battery has been lasting all day.

Hi Jeese,
The overall feel of the phone is very good. The screen is 3.1 (close to an HTC Hero). I think its enough for most tasks but if you are used to 4.3 or 4 it may be a problem. The camera is so so. Picture quality could be better but its not terrible. Camcorder was very mediocre. However, I don't use this features often except for random shots to upload maybe to FB or twitter every now and then. There is an LED for notifications but it only works if the screen is asleep

Thanks for your quick replies, I am seriously considering this phone. I currently have the Nexus on Sprint but this phone has major signal issues and the XRPT looks to be different from ALL other Android phones. I am ready for a change. Do any of you know if it had gorilla glass?
As per this site is says it does. go down to motorola and its there for both the droid pro and at the end it says XPRT.. cool

Ovarall guys how is the phone? Camera? Does it have a LED for nitifications? And is there anyone out there that came from a big device like the Evo ? How is the screen size feel?

I came from the EVO - ain't upset about it, either! :D I miss the larger screen a little, but I am more enthralled with the keyboard and functionality. The Motorola build is very solid, and their "Motoblur" works very nicely. What you don't want you can get rid of and off the screen. Yes, if you don't spend hours a day playing games or watching movies you will not miss the EVO that much. And, if you are as tired of having to plug your EVO in to keep the battery in the green mid-day then you will really enjoy the XPRT - I go ALL DAY without a charge and use my phone a fair amount - as a phone and for email/text messaging. Yes, sir, it is head & shoulders over the BB, and serves you well compared to the EVO. :)

Has anyone experience the phone getting warm when talking? It doesn't get hot to the touch but it does warm up.

I have, indeed, noticed it - apparently at the top of the phone is my recollection. But, it hasn't necessarily been when talking, but when doing other tasks, too, such as email or texting messages. I'll pay closer attention in the days ahead while I'm traveling to Vegas.

it doesn't do it much for me when texting mostly when talking, it warms up and stays warm but doesnt get hotter as time goes by its weird. it also did it when i was using Google maps for a few minutes, again warmed up but stayed at that temp, again not hot to the touch but you definitely it getting slightly warmer.
