G1 Unlock UK :(

Hello all, I hope this does not violate any forum rules.

I have been with T-Mobile and their Google G1 since early November 2008, but I now fancy a change.

I want to sell on my G1 (which I will be paying for, for another year), but I need to "unlock" it. I have seen various sites on the internet that state that they can send me an unlock code for

However Google are now selling the G1 "unlocked", so it is not a T-Mobile exclusive anymore?

Apologies, so the only way to get it unlocked is to pay a third party?

Well just to clarify I asked for an unlock code from T Mobile for mine in the UK and they said no problem I was never told it was an exclusive and couldn't happen. That was around a month ago.

I think I will send T-Mobile an e-mail, to see if they want to take the same stance in writing.
