Yes; but it begs the question why not just go with verizon ? Anyways I am too familiar with data speeds. I have 0 concern about upload; about the only thing I will upload is email; though I would say 256kb/s would be questionable for those who video chat with a 2mp front camera (I know the evo3d is 1.3). For download I guess 2mb/s is ok for most things (viewing images on website might be a bit slow; but I won't do that very often on a phone). However with 17mb/s type speeds well anyways. If the evo3d rocks then I'll go with that if it turns out to be a dog then i'll have to think abuot alternatives options. I hope i can find some chippery manager that will give me a sneak preview next weekend.
Well Verizon costs more, and they don't have a phone like the Evo 3D anyway. So that's why I personally am not considering Verizon at the moment. But if Verizon suits you better, by all means, go with whatever works best for you.
On the data speeds...
No video chat app streams a 2 megapixel (or even a 1.3 megapixel) video stream. So you don't have to worry about that. Video chat works fine on Sprint's 4G. You will not be disappointed. I do it all the time on my Evo, which also has a 1.3 megapixel front camera.
You will probably be surprised how much browsing you do on your phone. I'm posting this from my phone, even though my netbook is sitting on the table (turned off) right next to me. It's just so much easier and faster to do quick browsing from the phone a lot of times, than it is to boot up a computer.
Browsing on the phone on Sprint's 4G network is fast, even inside. Install the Dolphin HD browser and it's pretty much just like Google Chrome on a laptop. I didn't think I'd be doing much browsing on the phone either before I got my Evo (and I was coming from a Touch Pro 2 with unlimited data plan, not a flip phone). But I do it all the time now. Trust me, you will too.
Don't get caught up in the numbers too much. Sprint's 4G may be slower than Verizon's, but in real world use, the browsing is probably identical. No webpage downloads faster than 2 or 3 megs anyway. Even if they did, the cpu would be a bottleneck.
Netflix says you need at least 1.5 megs to steam their movies on a home connection. So the 2-5 megs on Sprint's 4G are plenty for typical use. Unless you have a bunch of files downloading at the same time or several people using it at the same time, or something like that, then you probably won't care that it's slower than Verizon's 4G.
I have no doubt in my mind, if you are coming from a flip phone with no data plan, the Evo 3D will not disappoint. It will probably change your life. It will certainly change the way you use your phone and the way you use your computer. It could also change the way you watch movies and listen to music (I pretty much only listen to pandora anymore, streaming from my phone).
