HTC EVO 3D pre-orders at RadioShack thread.

He did say however, that no one else had come in to pre-order it yet. I also asked him how many phones he expected to get, or how many new phones they usually get when a new one comes out and he said only 3-4, but they get shipments in once a week.
My RS said that I was the first to preorder as well, and that was today, but they are offering a pretty good bundle of a case, bluetooth and car charger of which i have 2 for 49.99, will be worth it for the $80 bluetooth device

I asked about accessories but he didn't know the prices on anything or what they would be getting. He did say however, that the EVO 3D could be 150$ or so as a special launch deal, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.

Glad this got pushed back to 6/24. I'll let all of you get it and see what kinds of problems arise if any and then purchase mine a month later. Things better be in stock!

On 7/24 you'll finally cave and pay $700 for it on ebay. You'll remember this post you made. LOL

Anyway, I called radioshack after hearing this news and they were clueless about "official" release date.

Still, from what I recall sprint does "free 2 day shipping" from the online store which means for me in texas, i'll have it 6/23, a day ahead. I'll be logging in to sprint at midnight on 6/21 fo sho.

I went in to Radio Shack the other day and the sales person looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I asked about pre-ordering an EVO 3D.

I am only one year into my contract and am only eligible for the $75 discount. I went to Radio Shack to see what I would have to pay in order to get the EVO 3D. Here is the rep's math: IFF I would have been eligible for the full upgrade and received $150 off, the phone would be $200. So I would have to add $75 to that amount, making it $275.

I just wanted to confirm this because an ex-employee stated that the math doesn't always work out that way. That there are more discounts or rebates that make the price go down that much only if the customer has the full upgrade.

If someone from Radio Shack can confirm... Thank You, Peter!

call sprint again, and ask for an early upgrade as long as your account has no bad marks they should reset your upgrade

I'll definately give it a shot... But I had tried through email already and got shot down. I tried when they changed the whole Sprint Premire program around... Thanks for the advice and quick reply...

Can anyone confirm or counter my original question? I just want to have all my bases covered.

Anyone order it on their online store? I ordered two (one for me, one for my girlfriend), and it was a pain to get them to recognize our addresses. First they couldn't find our shipping address, and I had to get them to mail them to my parent's house, then they called me again and said they couldn't confirm my Post Office box. It's in a post office! How could they not know that?! After speaking with their "specialized activation team", they finally confirmed all of my information.
I asked if they knew what place in line I was, and they said they had no way to tell.
It was quite a headache, and in the end, I think we'll get them a few days after release. Grrr...

I searched, so if this has come up, please forgive me.

So I get a call yesterday from Radio Shack. They tell me that because I bought the Evo 4G at launch last year, I can trade it in and upgrade to the Evo 3D for only $100 as long as I pre-order before June 21st.

I imagined he assumed that I was the main line on the family plan, and qualified for the full upgrade after one year, but he says no, anybody who bought the Evo at launch (maybe anytime in June, not sure) qualifies.

Well, I assumed he was wrong and told him I'd think about it. Today, I drove to the Radio Shack, figuring that a day later, they would have figured out they were wrong and correct themselves. But instead, the swore to me that the deal is legit. Its a Sprint/Radio Shack deal to get more Evo 3Ds out there. I guess they worry that most 4G owners would wait until their contract was up. I repeated that I WAS NOT AT MY 2 YEAR ELIGIBILITY yet, and they repeated that I still qualify.

Anyway, I still can not believe this is correct. I have no problems with my 4G, but for $100, I would definitely switch, not for the 3D, but for the dual core.

But I trust the people here more than those at Radio Shack (who I've had no problem with actually). So, what am I missing? I heard of this deal awhile, and assumed it was for 4G owners who were eligible after 1 year to upgrade, or those who bought it contract free. Is this legit? Or is there something I'm missing that will not allow me to upgrade for only $100?

You can call Sprint your self and get them to change you upgrade date. Tons including myself have done it. Plus you could get $200 easy for your evo on craigslist. Or ebay that bad boy.

Thanks. Though, if this is true, what Radio Shack is saying, I don't need to bother with any of that. Honestly, I didn't even think about the 3D, had no problem waiting a year to get an Ice Cream Sandwich phone. But for a $100, and no legwork, that's too much to pass up. I am a paranoid person though, and think Radio Shack may be misleading to sell a bunch of $50 gift cards (part of the preorder).

Right, but the post before yours shows a technique to do this for free and it's not difficult. Why not save yourself $100?

yeah ive had quite a similar experience just yesterday. I brought an Evo from Radioshack (reserved) last year prior to launch. i get a call yesterday asking if i am interested in getting the new evo. I tell the gentlemen that i am not eligible for an upgrade since i upgraded to evo just last year. He askes me for my phone number and billing zipcode to check as i provide it. he calls me back 3 minutes later to tell me i am indeed eligible for an upgrade for just $99 with a traded in Evo 4g.

I was a bit confused because just the previous day, i checked my account and i was not eligible for a new upgrade, sprint was only offering me $75 off any phone because ive only had my phone for about 12 months, at 22 months i would become eligible for the upgrade. After heading into the shack and preordering my phone, i head back home and check my account and this time it shows that i am eligible for an upgrade at two year discounted price ($150 off any new phone) with the following message "We love you, and to say thanks for spending time with us, you qualified on 06/01/11 to save $150"

As i mentioned before, the previous day i had checked to see if i was eligible to get the Evo 3d and i was not, as sprint was only offering me $75 off any new phone, my plan was to upgrade my plan to the $89 plan to become gold premier in three months to then upgrade in september. As of this moment i am NOT gold but silver, and this is a new line that was opened last summer so i have not been with sprint for 10 years..anyone know what gives? im not complaining in anyway but just wondering if radioshack can request or recommend a customer to become eligible for a two year upgrade although they are not eligible..

Are you paying for a single phone account of $99 or more?
Are you paying for a family account, multiple lines of $169 or more?

If so, that would mean you are gold premiere. If not, you are silver premiere. I believe that they were allowing people who purchased the original EVO to do the upgrade (from what I read), but after that, the policy goes to normal Silver or Gold status.

I think Sprint is just really trying to push this new phone. I tried just last month to get the early upgrade because I'm just a Silver member and still have another year to go. They shot me down like crazy... Then I called yesterday, and she was like, 'Sure! No problem at all. Matter of fact, we can give your other two lines $45 credits and they will still be able to upgrade in September'.

Oh and a little side note... if you sell Radio Shack your phone outright and not tell them it's for the 3D, they will buy it from you for $126!!! Making the total price for the upgraded phone ~$75

I'm not sure about that poster, but for me, I'm part of a family plan that qualifies for Premier Gold, however, I'm not the main line, so I don't get the yearly upgrade. Basically, the guy at Radio shack said it was a special to get more 3Ds out there. I guess quite a bit of Sprint customers got the 4G, and many of them aren't eligible for upgrade yet. And if most 4G owners are like me, they are happy with their current phone, and wouldn't upgrade if it cost $300+. I was perfectly fine waiting another year and getting an Ice Cream Sandwich phone next year, but this might be too good to pass up.

That's pretty good, though I don't think if you aren't eligible for an upgrade, if you go that route, you wouldn't get the 3D for $200 (unless you are a gold member, or get your upgrade pushed early).

if you are eligible for the 75 or 150 rebate, if you turn in your sprint htc evo 4G handset to sprint, they will give you $150.00 instant credit on the spot. you can have it shipped or walk into a corp. store. they will apply the amount. also if you have another handset that meets their criteria for handsets/equipment sprint is accepting, you can further get additional monies added to your account (the other equipment you would add is subject to the price sprint is willing to accept for the trade-in). Go to the Sprint trade in program page on their site fore more details.

Do you think they will honor the $40 to $50 RS online quote for my Hero at the time of trade-in?

I wouldn't see why not. They just know that us EVO'ers bought them in June and are ready for an upgrade. I mean, they are offering less then what they would normally offer and people are still jumping all over the 'deal'. I just hope they don't tell me that because there is a newer, better EVO out there, that they dropped the price of what they will buy my EVO for. And that I HAVE to sell it at $100 and not a penny more. Either way, I'm still getting an upgrade to my EVO for ~$100 so I'm happy.
