yeah ive had quite a similar experience just yesterday. I brought an Evo from Radioshack (reserved) last year prior to launch. i get a call yesterday asking if i am interested in getting the new evo. I tell the gentlemen that i am not eligible for an upgrade since i upgraded to evo just last year. He askes me for my phone number and billing zipcode to check as i provide it. he calls me back 3 minutes later to tell me i am indeed eligible for an upgrade for just $99 with a traded in Evo 4g.
I was a bit confused because just the previous day, i checked my account and i was not eligible for a new upgrade, sprint was only offering me $75 off any phone because ive only had my phone for about 12 months, at 22 months i would become eligible for the upgrade. After heading into the shack and preordering my phone, i head back home and check my account and this time it shows that i am eligible for an upgrade at two year discounted price ($150 off any new phone) with the following message "We love you, and to say thanks for spending time with us, you qualified on 06/01/11 to save $150"
As i mentioned before, the previous day i had checked to see if i was eligible to get the Evo 3d and i was not, as sprint was only offering me $75 off any new phone, my plan was to upgrade my plan to the $89 plan to become gold premier in three months to then upgrade in september. As of this moment i am NOT gold but silver, and this is a new line that was opened last summer so i have not been with sprint for 10 years..anyone know what gives? im not complaining in anyway but just wondering if radioshack can request or recommend a customer to become eligible for a two year upgrade although they are not eligible..
